The caves are what people come to see. And in addition to the famous Carlsbad Caverns, there are over a hundred other caves in Carlsbad Caverns National Park. There's also a desert wilderness filed with reminders of this area's long history of human habitation, colorful desert canyons, and plant and animal life superbly adapted to this harsh environment. Be sure not to miss the bats.
Carlsbad Caverns National Park is located in the southeast corner of New Mexico, not far north of the Texas border and Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Take Highways 62 and 180 out of Carlsbad to Whites City and the entrance to the park. Entrance Fees begin at six dollars for adults, and are determined by whether you are planning to take a guided or self-guided tour of the caverns.
