The most famous park in Alaska, Denali National Park is bigger than several states, a wilderness of tundra and fast-flowing streams, populated with grizzly bears, wolves, dali sheep, caribou, and a countless variety of birds and other animals. Yet even in this immense wilderness one feature dominates the landscape, the 20, 320 foot high Mt. McKinley. $10 - 20. HYPERLINK "http://www.nps.gov/dena/" http://www.nps.gov/dena/.
Denali National Park is located on Alaska Route 3, about 240 miles north of Anchorage and 125 miles south of Fairbanks. The park is reachable by car, or by taking the Alaska Railroad from either city. The train or your own car will only take you to the entrance or a few miles into the park, after that the only access is by airplane, park shuttle bus, bicycle, or on foot.
