Hamilton Island is the place to go for the ultimate in water sports and fun. Located off the Queensland Coast in the beautiful Whitsunday Islands, Hamilton Island offers tourists beautiful white sand on Whitehaven Beach along with spectacular skies, and sunset sea kayaking tours. Visitors are eager to explore the Great Barrier Reef, which is home to some of the most fantastic aquatic life ever seen. Hamilton Island also has the only airport in the Whitsunday Islands. Since mainland vehicles are prohibited on the island except for business purposes, visitors get around in golf buggies. And in late August, the island hosts the annual Hamilton Island Race Week yachting festival at Whitehaven Beach with Whitehaven Day becoming the biggest beach party in the southern hemisphere. Those who visit during the months of July thru September also stand a good chance of seeing the whales as they migrate toward the warm waters of the Whitsundays.
