Orono is a nice town with the flagship branch of the University of Maine, among other amenities. Orono is rich in history, and a great place to try some succulent New England seafood. A trip to the nearby American Folk Festival makes for a great day, and the region is also well known for its excellent harness racing that you can discover during a daytrip to Bass Park. For outdoor enthusiasts there are hiking, skiing and biking trails on over 200 acres, and the Penobscot Valley Country Club is one of the most beautiful 18-hole courses in the State.
