Known as Ski Town USA, Steamboat Springs is an international winter resort destination. This small town in northwest Colorado is blessed with several geothermal hot springs, a whitewater river good for rafting and kayaking, as well as good Rocky Mountain slopes for skiing. For the less athletically-inclined, there are also indoor activities such as quilting, bowling or yoga available in Routt County. Getting to Steamboat Springs can be a bit tricky, as the Denver Airport is about 3½ hours away, and Amtrak's nearest station is 80 miles off. However, once you get to Steamboat Springs (via shuttle or rental car), local transportation is easy. Numerous biking and hiking trails provide an alternative method of getting about, while local limousine and taxi services offer door-to-door service.
