Excellent staff and very convenient location for my business needs that week.
The bathrooms were in need of maintenance. Although very clean, there were sloppy repairs that made the tub and shower very shabby, and I was not tempted to take a bath.
location was perfect
Not enough amenities in the room. No mini refrigerator. No coffee maker. The TV didn't work well.
Good location. Across from Penn Station, next to Subway entrance. Fun diner attached. Great history room.
Not getting our room cleaned the last night we were there. We stayed 11 nights.
I booked my stay at the Wyndham through a third party -- not KAYAK, but through another one (getaroom, I think). When I arrived at the hotel, Sunday evening, my reservation had not been sent to the hotel. This was the fault of the third party. However, while the staff tried hard to be accommodating, errors were made. I stood at the desk for 45 minutes while the desk agent tried repeatedly to get getaroom to fax him or email him a copy. I offered to do the same. This apparently was not enough. He disappeared for long periods into the back room while I stood. There was no reason he could not have offered me the option to go to a room, and to take an imprint of my credit card (not to charge it, as I had already paid the third party), and to resolve this on his own, as it was the hotel’s responsibility at this point, and I was weary. I had to finally request the manager, and point this out to him, though he was ready to do so. I was disappointed in this. Afterward, the service was lovely, and my room was upgraded, I was offered breakfast, and a late checkout. So overall the hotel was fine. Just the mixup was not handled well.
Location was great. Penn Station is a block away. Easy to walk to just about anything.
Room was muggy and A/C unit was loud. Small, though that's not surprising. Overall, room and hotel felt a little run down.
Not much to like besides location
I arrived early at 6am, check in was at 3pm which is stated and I have no issues. However I asked the lady who works the graveyard shift on Tues 8/4, she told me I could go to the restaurant that was connected to the hotel to rest and wash up. Later the bell boy said, "hey if you want a larger bathroom theres one downstairs..." If the bell boy was not nice enough to mention that I would have been a restaurant bathroom trying to change.
Nice view from hotel. Rooms were small but to be expected, still cozy. Excellent location, walked to most of my destinations. Very close to Penn Station which was nice since I flew into Newark.
Beds were very hard, difficult to sleep first few nights. There is a business charge even if you don't use the WiFi or business center. Shower was sort of frustrating as other reviews have stated. The temperature was pretty inconsistent. The pressure could blow you out of the bathroom, but this is better than having little water pressure. Bathroom was small. No refrigerator.
The location and the people that worked there were very nice
It needs major renovation
We had a nice view of the Empire State Building as well as comfortable beds and friendly staff. The location is great to walk about anywhere in town and jump on the subway easily.
The shower head and plumbing were frustratingly terrible. The pressure was so bad, I could hardly get water to reach anything other than my head. The temperature was wildly inconsistent no matter what time we showered and would sway from the extremes the whole time you showered. I understand it's old plumbing, but at $330 a night I expect a little better. Because of the problems, it would take me at least twice as long to shower, so if they're trying to cut pressure to be "green", it's not working.
Great location by Penn Station. Clean rooms and very hot water.
Convenient to Penn Station. Friendly staff.
Room was a larger upgrade, upgraded and spacious but bathroom was tiny and old fixtures.
Good location with friendly staff. Good value for the money, rooms were cosy and perfect for a younger couple in their 20's.
Old hotel, needs to be renovated. wallpaper was ripping, outside of the building looks run down. very small rooms, many with limited views.
Great location, good price through Kayak,
Small rooms, basic ammenities
Location is excellent - close to everything. It was clean and quiet. The two dining options of more formal vs. diner fare is a good balance.
Rooms are small and no coffee maker. I like the Tryp better.
Beautiful new updated room
This was my daughters special BDay and our first time to NY. We were greeted by Muhammad. He was very cautious and took care of us quickly (employee of month quality). Great job. The room was well layed out for being one of the smaller rooms. But it was super nice and the view great. We had a phenomenal view from the 35th floor of the empire state building. It was better than I expected when I booked the room in Oct for the BDay girl and Westminster Dog Show. The location cannot be beat... 1/2 NY block from Penn station, Madison Square Garden, and 4 blocks from Time Square and Bryant Park. Helped make our vacation great!!
The only thing we did not like was the bed. We are used to nice pillow tops... these were harder than we would pick.
Really affordable, great location and a classic building make it an enjoyable stay. Room was clean and everything.
Bathroom was a little outdated, and that goes for the building too the hallways look very 70s, but then again its very affordable so its not a big deal.
Beds comfortable, nice maid, shower pressure good
Room was small, drafty, and poorly maintained. Tile had mold, paint chipping. No bathrobes typically of 4 star hotel. Four star price for "3 star hotel at best. Would never stay there again
Room was tiny couldn't even fit a cot it was drafty
No major problems with room
Room was quite small (it's an old hotel)
Nice clean hotel, with helpful staff, free basic wifi, and a great location. Near Penn station, MSG, and Javtis Convention Center.
What was not great is that we were in a double with queen beds that took up the entire room. We could barely move around with out having to dodge running into one another (two people). The bathroom was tiny and had no counter space, a pedestal sink, and a teeny tiny shelf, again for two people. The tv was crammed in a corner on a small dresser at the end of one of the "queen" (seemed like full, rock hard) beds, so it was always in the way for that bed. The room had very drafty non-noise blocking windows, we were on the 33rd floor and could still hear street traffic. It was very windy the night before we left so I could barely get any sleep that night from the noise. The room was also freezing when we returned after being out for the day, thankfully the heat is adjustable. You can also hear your neighboring guests without much effort. For the money we paid (Marathon weekend so prices were jacked up) it was really not impressive. I have been to Europe and European hotel rooms seem like wide open fields compared to the rooms at this place. The only saving grace was the location.
Good location. Basic facilities.
I was bitten by a spider during the night and left with several painful welts on my leg. Annoying! Also from a 4 star reviewed hotel i expected more. It was fairly basic.
Great location. Nice staff. They did accomodate us when we complained about the size of the room
Rooms very, very small. Two double beds very close to each other and not one dresser drawer. Bathroom door opens in but not all the way because it hit a shelf. Looked at other rooms, nothing similar to their website. Entire property needs major remodel. Pealing paint, chipped tiles, Old poorly functioning bathroom fixtures. Very old bedding, tattered and wrinkled. Old, stained carpet. Dark, poor lighting. No restaurant or bar (both are bring renovated but we didn't know this until we arrived). This is absolutely NOT a 4 star hotel - barely a 3 star. I travel a lot and almost always use Hotwire and have never disagreed with their star rating. I will not use Kayak again for hotels.
Location was perfect for the business I had to do there.
The floor and room I stayed in had not been updated in a very long time. Hotel was old and not clean. The house clean did a terrible job every day.
Bed and rooms were extremely small for the price
location was great
hotel is very old. Being female I need a bathroom where I can put on makeup and do my hair. Very small bathroom with old time basin sink amd shower. no vanity will not stay there again nor recommend it to a friend
I stayed 7 nights. I would not recommend for an extended stay but okay for short visit. Location was central, near subways and attractions. Room was a good size for a queen bed, single adult. Reminds me of good public transportation. Serviceable and convenient are the main strengths, but not comfortable. You would not come in and say "ahhhh" at the end of a day in New York.
I didn't TRUST that the room was clean. The room was refreshed daily, It looked clean, smelled cleaned but...... The bed was not comfortable, it sagged on one side. The hotel is in need of serious refurbishment. I heard the plumbing from the other room when they took a shower, as well as the guy clearing his sinuses (yuck). The hot water was only warm.
Next to Penn Station.
Drab. Needs a major renovation. Should be a one star hotel. Bellstand charges $2 per bag just to hold a bag.
