Hotel des Iles

We were really looking forward to staying at this hotel as it is so central and right on the beach. The location was good and staff polite yet more training is required to fulfil the 4* rating. Breakfast was very limited unless you liked eggs and then you could have a freshly made omelette, coffee too was ok. We asked for and were given towels for the beach which was helpful.

Room was very large but unclean ( many furnishings covered with material which is difficult at the best of times) badly laid out with windows from the main bedroom onto the living room! The large window that looked out from the main bedroom was 2inches short of closing which meant that the wind whistled through and we could hear the music from the roof bar very loudly. One of the bathrooms had a corner bath, it had holes and cracks in it which I suspect was the probable cause of the damp smell everywhere, especially in the cupboards! The gab rail and towel rail where not fixed to the wall. The second bathroom, the shower did not drain away which resulted in flooding the bedroom and a hideous smell of drains. We mentioned this to staff and when we returned the smell had reduced and the water had been cleared however after the next use of the shower the smell and flood returned.

Location was good

The place had a damp musty smell which I’m certainly not blaming the cleaners for. The reception staff did not seem interested in helping us with any of our queries.
