Friendly staff, facilities minimal.
Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful anytime we had a question, or were looking for info on local sites. Location was pretty cool, being in a small village in scenic locale.
Rooms are bare minimum. Bed, shower, tv. Property says internet access, but found out not in rooms. You must sit in the lobby and compete with the 50 others off the tourist bus for bandwidth on the lone router. Facilities were run down. Carpet worn down, toilet paper holder missing, patchwork and repairs visibly evident. No air conditioning, no fans to check out. This place wouldn't be too bad if they put some money into bringing it out of the 70's and into the current century. Owners seem to accept mediocrity in what they offer. So much potential here! Need Internet access and fans in every room. Need to do some serious updating on facilities......new carpet, bathroom furnishings, etc. If you need a bed and shower for the night, and nothing more, this place will work for ya.
The beautiful Isle of Skye and the friendly, helpful staff that tried to make the best of the situation. They were clearly embarassed about the state of the hotel. The owner should be ashamed of himself.
We couldn't open our room because the lock was worn out. After an instruction, we finally managed to open it. The room was really tired and dirty. The linoleum in the bathroom was completely rotten and the shelf above the sink had broken off. The owner is clearly a Scotsman, because nothing broken is repaired. I found a woodlouse in the bathroom. After we got back from dinner, my wife found a second one crawling around on the bed. She wanted to leave immediately, but it was too late to find another place to stay, so she put her pants into her socks and was lying in bed with her clothes on and left the light on. At 4:30 AM the people of the room above us started walking around, which made an annoying squeaking noise that kept me awake.
Difficult access to Portree
Good breakfast, nice staff
Not the quality for the price. Water leaks. TV didn't work. Fire alarm at 6:00am.
a nice place in a wonderful landscape
it is a little old fashioned and maybe needs a little amelioration
The bed has seen better days and no shower
Room was available and adequate.
No television in the room!!!
We were dissapointed with the breakfast.
The hotel was in a good location, rooms very comfortable, breakfast was good, quiet and peaceful.
T.V. Wasn't working in my room, but as we were only staying overnight this wasn't a problem, had we been staying longer, I would have mentioned it. These things should be checked by staff on a regular basis.
No signing from road to indicate that there was a small car park at the rear. There were three entrances to the hotel from this car park none of which were marked as Private or Staff Only. This led to an embarrassing situation when someone, who did not identify himself, as good as accused us of being about to carry out some criminal act. The reception was unfriendly and failed to indicate that there was a lift. This meant that we ( both over 70 ) had to carry our bags upstairs and along what seemed interminable corridors, which were narrow and extremely claustophobic. The stairs, corridors and our room were all extremely shabby - worn paintwork, shabby carpets, locks that didn't work, etc. The room itself fell far below any that we have encountered in many dozen similarly priced establishments
