Hotel El Pedregal

Filthy old bed, ratty sheets and towels. Breakfast was like prison food. Very noisy area day and night. Mini fridge was so old and loud had to unplug it. Pictures on website of rooms must be from 20 years ago with zero maintenance since then. No hot water. Lock to room was less secure than an indoor closet lock. One could have broken in with a plastic spork. We placed a chair and our luggage in front of the door at night for safety. Old junky tv. Wooden shutter for a window. Walls were so dirty, it looked like cattle had been herded through the room.

See above. This place is run at the most marginal level. We were so disappointed when first seeing it that we wanted to go find another place. We saw other places nearby that were much better for a similar price. Since we didnt want to forfeit a week's payment, we decided to rough it and just try not to look too close at the conditions. But the worst was the twin size sheets on a queen size bed with no bottom mattress pad. So when you woke up you would be sleeping directly on a filthy whorehouse mattress at least 40 years old. We felt dirty in this place the entire time. The morning we left, I saw a gecko run across the bed...I had no problem with that.

The central location was very nice. The building has a lot of potential once renovated. The hosts are helpful but they don't speak English.

The place is not a 3 star hotel worthy. The building needs an urgent renovation and is not well maintained. The bathroom (sink, shower, walls, toilet), closet, windows are very old. The sheets are never changed and the quality is very poor. They are torn and have permanent stains on them. The rooftop terrace could be nice but everything is broken. The breakfast is very basic and there is not enough space to accommodate all the guests. The quality of the tables and cutlery is very poor. WiFi doesn't reach all the rooms properly. The rooms downstairs are right next to an alley where people make music and noise all night long. Maybe this is something you will encounter everywhere in Getsemani. The 'windows' cannot be opened so no fresh air.
