Exceptional service, very cool hotel with a lot of character in a great location, just outside the Medina. Food was excellent
The outside decoration and location and the breakfast staff specially Khadija
Rooms are not convenient.. one of the room had dirt on the sheet and the other was smelly.. staff didn’t handle the issue really well and regret every single penny paired that night.
We splurged a bit to stay here, but it was more than worth the price. This hotel is really in a former palace and is absolutely gorgeous--lovely room, wonderful public spaces including courtyards with fountains, rooftop terrace. Staff service was excellent and accommodating.
Really nothing to complain seriously about. The man at the front desk on our first morning there tried very hard to convince us that we needed a guide for the Medina so that we didn't get lost or preyed upon by unscrupulous persons, etc. We just politely said no and that was it. Also, this hard-sell approach is quite typical overall for Fez in general.
Beautiful room, wonderful breakfast
The room was in front of the pool, it made a bit of noise during the night
The hotel is a 19th century palace that took 4 years to restore to its current opulent beauty. It is little like a fortress as well so you don't want for security which is important in Africa. I visited Morocco as a student, did the tour and have returned reassured that Fez and its medina is the jewel of Moroccan destinations although I'm yet to visit Casablanca and have stayed away from the Sahara. We flew direct from Stansted to Fez, were collected by one of the hotel drivers and returned a few nights later. £25 each way. Every request and move we made outside the hotel was (if we wanted) managed by the concierge service - possibly the most competent concierge service I've come across. The hotel restaurant is very good. Only eclipsed by MB restaurant in the Ville Noveau but we'd tired of the Moroccan spice palette by then and wanted something with a little more "northern med coast" influence.
Breakfast was a little poor for a vegan but if I'd been more awake at breakfast time I'm confident they'd prepared pretty much anything for me. What they did instead was deliver my breakfast tea (with soya milk), juice and toast to my room as part of the inclusive breakfast. Two visits one morning! Even in Morocco you can't expect an outdoor pool to be warm in January. So I'm struggling to find a complaint. There is one hotel in Fez that is more expensive than Palace Faraj. I'm wondering how its an improvement. Maybe it has an indoor pool or the floor mosaics might be marginally smoother. Nothing to do with the hotel but watch out for rug salesmen. They spoilt our shopping experience by being so pushy. They lost the biz for it and - we snapped up a £2k lamp for £500 instead! The hotel helped me wrap it properly for air travel. Finally - Palace Faraj - send your cocktail waiters on a refresher course. They already have some recipes down. We can't expect everything, even at a destination hotel like yours. But I'm struggling to think what you could improve. Stirred not shaken gentlemen!
