Overall it was a lovely property, and excellent meals. The open air bath was amazing, and we would recommend highly to other travellers. It was by far the biggest room we had during our whole journey, and comfortably appointed.
It was very difficult to get to the property with public transport, but this was probably because of the typhoon the week before. Also, the staff we not as welcoming as we had hoped (and experienced at other locations)
The room was very comfortable and we loved the deep hot tub / bath. The meals were well presented, although we were a little jaded with the Japanese food by this time. The food was good, but didn't rise to any real heights.
There's no sign of management and front office staff spoke little English and were very poorly trained. The property's located 20 minutes by car from Gora (the nearest town and railhead) and taxis can take up to 2 hours to arrive. On one occasion, at 10.30am, we requested a taxi and were advised that one wouldn't arrive until 12 noon. When we fronted at 12 noon, we were told that they hadn't actually booked the taxi and that we couldn't get one until 2pm. It was pouring with rain and we were locked into the hotel for more than half the day. Ignoring the incompetence of the staff, the hotel should operate a shuttle to Gora and back, to satisfy guests who don't have their own vehicle. I'm a tourism professional of more than 50 years' standing. I'm usually very tolerant and rarely complain, however intending guests should be aware that you will be very isolated.
Obviously the Onsens and the dinners were fantastic. Good location for exploring the area if you have a car. Great little convenience store next door for getting beer/wine/sake/snacks. Restaurant staff very friendly
Hotel sign only visible in one direction, so very difficult to find. Breakfasts were disappointing compared to dinners. Reception staff a bit grumpy
The place is Clean, seems to be quite new. There is an onsen in the hotel and many rooms have a private bath that you can use 24hrs. The onsen is ok, nothing spectacular. Breakfast is included.
Location is not great, you have to walk quite a bit for the bus. Check in is at 3pm, so don't arrive before that, and last time to book dinner is 3pm (which I was not told) so after that you can only have rice and curry, which was not optimal. The Hotel is right next to the roa, and the windows face it, even though it said on the website that they had a forest view, its as not accurate. There is a construction going on next to it, so it can get pretty loud in the daytime. I asked to be changed room and it got a bit better. Breakfast is nice, the restaurant overall is not very cozy, it feels like a cafeteria. But the food is ok.
The breakfast and dinner was good. The outdoor onsen both public and private was amazing. The staff are really helpful and friendly
Not all the staff can understand or speak english
