The bedrooms are old and tiny, the bathrooms are terrible, no water or coffee or anything was provided. Terrible value for money.
Clean and authentic
I love the location and cleanliness of the room, it’s walking distance to nearby subway station and restaurants, and yet I enjoy the peace and quiet in the room with Sakura view from our window.
When I first arrive, I couldn’t find the entrance of the since it’s in the alley; a signboard to show the direction of entrance will be helpful especially visitors who unfamiliar with Japanese language.
Ryokan with 200 yrs history, former residence of one of Meiji restoration figurehead. It has the charm and historical value. The room that we stayed was full of character (in main building).
Facilities are dated. The staff were polite but did not go above and beyond.
An excellent ryokan with traditional features, facilities and atmosphere. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast delicious (western and japanese), the hot bath facility available for private use was great. Sleeping on the floor was much improved by doubling the futons. The location is good- close to subway and bus connections.
The hot water supply in the room was very erratic but as we used the splendid hot bath facility this did not trouble us. The stairs up to the rooms are very steep and there is no lift in the old building so beware if, like us, your knees are not what they once were.
Old and historical hotel, we use Kyoto's vegetable, fish and seafood of each season, which is set of dishes served on an individual tray for entertaining guests. Convenient for traffic, shopping and sightseeing spot.
