NH Tenerife

Check-in/Reception was friendly and efficient; I was greeted by name even before I showed my reservation details. The room was clean and well-equipped (with a welcoming plate of fresh fruit slices), with a safe and fridge/minibar. (Beware of the minibar prices though!). Although we didn't need it, aircon appeared to function well and was simple to operate/adjust. Breakfast was good quality, varied and plentiful with fresh cheeses and meats and a selection of pastries. I had requested and we were allocated a quiet room (end of corridor). The hotel is in a good area for restaurants, with the popular "Noria" street about 5 minutes walk away.

There was no daylight into our room, as it looked on to a gloomy internal space within the building; the sky could just be glimpsed with difficulty by looking steeply upwards from the second-floor room window. Room decor (dark-brown wooden panels and off-white greyish wallpaper) made the room even darker, so we had to keep lights on at any time of day. There was a 1-metre square "window" at about 1-metre height between the bedroom and bathroom/toilet area. Although the glass was partly frosted (with clear glass strips between frosted areas), it was quite translucent and the light from the bathroom would disturb someone sleeping in the bedroom. The bath tub and shower were immediately on the bathroom side of the window, so that the silhouette of anyone showering was clearly visible. (Photo 16 of the hotel's picture gallery partly shows this feature, and could actually be the room we had). The 6th-floor rooftop "sun terrace" - one of the plus points for booking this city-centre hotel - was only open Friday through Sunday. On the one occasion we did manage to visit the terrace, it seemed to be a pleasant area for afternoon relaxation (although music from the bar was quite loud). This is very much a "business hotel" with little local atmosphere or charm. Although a restaurant and bar are advertised, we didn't actually notice anyone dining at any time during our 7-day stay.

Location. Staff overall friendly.

I asked for a double bed and was given a twin. The mattress is simply too hard. I asked for a quiet room on the top floor which I also didn't get.

Location

Breakfast should be included. Coffee machine in the room as well. All these items make travel far more comfortable.
