Great location, friendly, quirky vibe. Staff were nice. We had the private room, there were hostel-style shared rooms, but it wasn't loud or hectic even with people coming and going. Sufficient blankets so that sleeping was ok in otherwise cold room. Breakfast was basic but it was free.
Room was very cold and damp at night. Street noise went late (expected in tourist area) but also started early (loud conversations every morning seemingly outside our un-insulated windows). While the closet was large and generous, there were only five hangers and they couldn't find any more so we couldn't use the clothes rail for most of our clothes.
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately the room that we booked wasn't available, so we ended up in an apartment for the same price, which was great. Superb location, right next to a bakery/cafe which served fantastic coffee, very cheaply (photograph below). The breakfast provided, was very good, with fresh croissants, lovely butter and jam, with an egg and banana - and plenty of coffee. There is a roof terrace, and on one evening we were able to watch a most spectacular storm raging over the city!
There was no hot water in the apartment, which in all honesty wasn't a major issue. In the evenings it was quite noisy, but we were in a very very popular part of Bogota, so it was not the fault of the hostel. It would have been good to have some chairs in the apartment, but again not a major issue. The wifi was a bit 'flaky', not sure if this a common problem here, or particular to this property.
I have only these two regrets and opinions, i m sure true efforts will make everything better, i will still put a good note to call other guests, and hope no one will copy and paste my comment - While there, i thought the manager-owner Stephanie, who advertises her hotel for japanese customers mainly, sould be more working in the hotel, and not all the time in different restaurants nearby, as she is the one who speaks japanese and started this concept in Bogota. We met her only one time accidentaly in the street, and that was not even a real self introduction. Instead, her old mother stays all the time in the hotel and takes care everything, from breakfast, cleaning, checking in... she speaks only “tadaima” and “okaeri”, but sadly “tadaima” which means “welcome back home” with a family feeling nuance was not felt a second by me and my wife during our 4 days stay. After we stayed the two last days very sick in our room, not able to eat or move at all, we had more a cold feeling as no one never seemed interested by what was happening with us. - Noise is never a positive thing nowhere, and dealing with an hotel means to worry for noisy situations. Tadaima hostel has a door bell that rings all the time day and night, as no guest has an outdoor key. After few days, we also could not sleep well, woke up very often in the middle of night. The stairs built in front of entrance and lobby makes the sound being clearly audible in the upper rooms. Also if one or more persons are speaking very loud in the entrance or near the guestrooms, while some guests are sleeping, maybe it is a basic responsability to worry for making this loudness stop.
Perfectly located hostel to explore bogota at a fair price
Quite hard to find, host did not speak english, no real "hostel feeling", more a room in an apartment, very small room and bath, overall quite old
Great location. Continental breakfast included. Excellent value!
Few bathrooms but wasn't a problem for us!
