The room is very spacious (triple room) and have a fascinate river view. We love it so much! As we booked the room with half board meal. We had our dinner & breakfast here too. The food is good too!
The onsen pool is a bit small but it won't discourage us to return.
Bedroom and adjacent bathroom is spacious and modern. There's a tea set (including the teas) and oranges served on the sofa area. We stayed here mid November. The view of the river with autumn color tree leaves from our room on 5th floor is amazing. Really. The Shabu Shabu kaiseki dinner was amazing and plentiful (we added ¥1100 per person to get the Sashimi boat upgrade), with free flow of drinks (beer, juice, sake, soda, etc), it took us about 90 minutes to finish our dinner. But that may also be because we dressed up in the provided yukatas and take time for photos. The Japanese breakfast was also amazing and plentiful. We love that we can have Private Onsen time, after 10pm, as we are not comfortable with public nudity. Onsen water is warm, clear and clean.
Onsen is nice (warm and water is clear) but small and needs renovation. The front of the hotel building itself, viewed from the highway street is underwhelming. As we read previous reviews that getting to the hotel by walking from the station is dangerous, we took the ¥100 shuttle bus C from Hakone Yumoto station, per previous guest suggestion. The bathroom has a bit of smell (maybe drainage problem) but if you close the bathroom door, the smell won't get into the bedroom.
The room we had looked out over the river. Beautiful view of river and hillside. Felt very close to nature. The onsen facilities were available to couples after 10pm which we enjoyed. I loved the menus/explanation sheets provided with the traditional Japanese style breakfasts. They improved our understanding of the foods a lot.
The hotel is situated a kilometre or so up along the river from Hakone.
The room was quite large by Japanese hotel standards and the view over the river was lovely. We had half board for 2 days and the food at both breakfast and dinner was delicious and plentiful. Nice onsen.
We travelled to the hotel by bus from Hakone-yumoto using the Hakone free pass. The stop nearest the hotel was kami- tonosawa which was about 50 metres from the hotel. The road was very narrow and with no side walk so taking oneself and luggage that last 50 yards was a bit hairy. When we checked out we ordered a taxi to take us to Hakone-yumoto which was only 840 yen and much safer.
The view from the room was amazing and the included dinner and breakfast was outstanding.
The information about the shuttle bus was not easy to access before arriving in Hakone.
