Luna Liquida is a beautiful traditional hacienda style boutique hotel that somewhat has a bed and breakfast vibe A minimal continental breakfast is "included" which consisted of a small plate of assorted fruits, fresh juice, coffee and toast w fresh jams. If you want to purchase breakfast the chef who comes daily will prepare it upon request for about $4-$6 cash.
The rooms where not what I had expected. We booked a Deluxe King Room with a view. We stayed in the lower tree house room and my first impression of the room was that it was lovely with a good view of the town and ocean below. It was only in the evening and the next morning that I became disappointed. The old style bamboo roll up curtains cord to provide privacy from view of the bldg. and living room next door could not be lowered and cord was out of reach and tangled. The bed was a pillowtop but was still hard as a rock and left us both with back pain in the morning. The shower in this room was in need of de calcification because of off extreme lime deposits and or replacement. It was one of the worst showers I have ever tried to bath in. The towels were threadbare and there were like drying with a burlap sack. We could not get the TV in the room to work as the WiFi was poor in the bldg. The next morning we spoke with Front Desk about changing rooms and they did accommodate. We had to downgrade our room and could not get the property to adjust the reflection in price. All the rooms seamed to have the same uncomfortable beds but the 2nd rooms shower was a great improvement. The staff were all fabulous but the hotel needs to update there amenities. I also feel for the price per night ( we paid $200 per night ) that breakfast should be a full breakfast and not just continental.
LOCATION - less than 10 min walk to Malecon and Zona Romantica, accessible by charming cobblestone streets. Feels like you are in a traditional neighborhood. I felt safe walking day and late at night. Yes the walk home was a workout with those steps, but with all the eating you do the workout was welcome. STAFF - Monica was wonderful from check in to recommendations of where to eat, walk and whatever else you need. Every other staff member was attentive, friendly and always stopped what they were doing to greet you. I appreciated they all wore colorful traditional uniforms. Imagine my delight when a welcome margarita was delivered to my suite before sunset. ROOMS - I had a King Suite with view of the ocean. Very large and stylish and super clean with comfy bed and great aircon + fan. I saw other rooms as well and they are beautiful. It feels like a true Mexican colonial appointed boutique hotel rather than mainstream giant characterless room. I spent more time in my room than on normal visits because it was so welcoming amd relaxing. COMMON AREAS - while the main draw is the fabulous rooftop terrace/sun deck with near-infinity pool with spectacular views of all of Puerto Vallarta and the bay, there is another deck one level down and two indoor lounging areas with comfy couches and cool decor. Self serve fresh water is offered in several locations as well as honor bar cooler on the roof. BREAKFAST - served on the rooftop, continental breakfast is included and it was enough for me. Fruit plate, coffee, fresh juice and bread with chef's homemade marmalade. They also have a full breakfast menu at additional charge that looked good. GUESTS - the vibe here seems to attract friendly cool people. I was a solo traveler amd felt fine here. There were romantic couples, groups of girls and groups of friends. Everyone said hello to each and enjoyed sunset. I would recommend leaving kids at home bc the property feels more chill and intimate.
There is nothing to dislike. It is not the best choice if you have mobility issues as there are stairs within the property and steep steps coming and going to the main tourist spots, but if you don't mind that, it is charming.
The people were wonderful. The location is excellent.
Roof top pool was amazing views but small. Design and decor of room was very cool. Design of whole property was really nice and fun.
Straight up hill from everything. Not the end of the world but it can get rough. When I purchased the room it said Deluxe King Suite- it was just a king bed. Nothing suite about it. Super small balcony, standing shower, no nice tub like I had been seeing. It was standard. Not what the ad for the room promoted. The WiFi was shotty but that happened to me everywhere in the city. You can hear your neighbors and especially anyone walking down the steps and past your room. Walls were very thin.
Clean room and great views, friendly staff, rooftop pool. Eduardo served lovely, fresh breakfast items and wonderful coffee, while making light conversation about PV. Chill vibe, tasteful decor.
Climbing the hill after dinner. Church bells could be quieter in the wee hours.
