New World Shanghai Hotel

Very friendly service, staff could all speak english well. I was able to checkin early and able to have a late checkout at no extra cost. Rooms were clean, spacious, including the bathroom. Wifi was fast enough on the basic (free) plan Breakfast was exceptional with wide variety and some variations between days. Locations was good, although the metro exit is right next to the hotel, the actual station is about 700m walk away. The exit has about 2 flights of stairs with no escalator.

I really liked this hotel! Would definitely come back when I return to Shanghai. Excellent location, beautiful rooms, amazing breakfast and had all the perks of a high class hotel. Great value and helpful staff.

Only thing, maybe something for the management to consider, the room was quite hot and the AC make a lot of difference and was noisy when turned up. We travelled in December when it was cold, so I hate to think what it would be like in the summer. We had to open the small window and leave it open all day to cool the room down to a reasonable temperature. So management, it would be a perfect experience if you upgrade the AC units.

Superb location, good amenities and very friendly staff, I have always liked this hotel in the past as it’s reliable and comfortable.

Someone from the hotel had mistakenly give out my room number to a guest room services staff member and asked her to check the room status, as they thought the room was vacated. It happened at 11:30pm in the night whilst I was about to sleep, when the doorbell was rang suddenly and someone tried to enter with a card!! It wasn’t pleasant experience. It turned out to be a mistake after all and when I checked out the next day, the front desk duty manager apologised profoundly and offered me a small gift from the hotel as a good will gesture. I was very disappointed about the experience as this should not have happened in any of the five stars hotel, it was fairly scary too when it happened around midnight!

I really liked this Hotel! Had stayed at Radison Blu two nights before, and this room was so much better. Booked a room that gave access to the top floor - wish I could have spent more time there. It was a short stay, I didn't have time to enjoy facillities that much. However, I really liked the lounge area and the bed in my room! So comfortable and relaxing.

I only stayed for one night. Late arrival early checkout. But nothing to remark on at all. Lived up to expectations.

We booked the Club Superior King Room and it comes with extra's. The breakfast and the 'happy hour' on the 38th floor are amazing. It certainly exceeded our expectations.

Great staff! Great in room service, and good facilities. Was only a shame that the pool was only open during Summer and that period ended a day or so before we arrived. Making better notice that the Pool is only open during the Summer and having the dates displayed on booking websites would help this.

Extremely expensive breakfast. Small bathtub sharing same space as shower was a bit hard and tight. The pool closes on Oct 1st, so I couldn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted to

Noisy roadworks outside but staff arranged for quieter room

The staff is super friendly, rooms were clean and the housekeeping is very attentive! The lounge area is amazing with very nice views, you can see the Shanghai tower and the food is also good. We will definitely book it again!

The pool area could be cleaned with a high pressure water pistol.

The size of the room, cleanliness was good. Decor is simple but not dated. Staff at check-in was really welcoming and helpful.

2nd night, I got 2 shampoo bottles instead of a shower bottle. Minor issue.

This is the second time I have stayed here and it won't be the last ! The location is perfect for me being close to our office, some may find it a little away from the tourist centres. Personally I'd prefer the quality, standards and value they offer compared to proximity to Nanjing Rd or the Bund. It is right next to a metro station and only a short taxi trip from the centre of town.

If it had a washing machine and basic cooking facilities I would have booked for 2 months.

This is a true 5-star hotel experience. Executive Lounge is exceptional including breakfast, high tea, and happy hour with exceptional views. Outdoor swimming pool is excellent, and fitness center is very good. Staff is very attentive. Solid wi-fi. Nice park across the street.

The only potential downside that the hotel is about a 20-min metro ride (+10-min walk to the metro) to the center of the city. But the city is huge so you need to travel a lot anyway.

The view of our room at the 37th floor was amazing. The room was big with a seperate sleepingpart. Great was the service in the lounge at 38. Every evening at 1700 hour you could get drinks and food.

It was so comfortable, the bed was very comfy, the staff was amazing and really enjoyed the pool.

Spacious room with one of most comfortable hotel beds I've ever experienced. Very quiet. Metro station in shopping mall next door (be careful over exit though as it's confusing). Good location noit too far from city centre.

Thought bar and restaurants looked expensive so went outside for dinner. But lots of options close by.

The staff are professional, hospitable and the service exceptional. The bed, pillows, sheets were high quality, and my stay was superbly comfortable. Rooms are quiet and peaceful, felt no disturbance. I loved the rooftop pool, it was a tranquil oasis. I felt rejuvenated after spending time sun bathing there and reading a book. Rare to find outdoor pools in the cities here as most hotels have indoor pools in china. I would stay again.

The hotel was a highlight for us this trip! Even though there was a bit of a wait during Check-In as it was peak travel time, the receptionist was upbeat and made sure we felt welcome. Our room was great and super comfortable, and house keeping added small touches to get us ready for bed when we came back from a day out. We also had access to the Executive Lounge, which was comfortable and offered great choices for breakfast. Service can be improved upon, but it was otherwise a great experience.

Service was not always the best at the Executive Lounge, but reception was amazing. Believe they were a little short staffed for the period.

Outdoor pool was great , 24hours gym was nice. Staffs are kind . Room is clean, love the restaurant near by !!! Recommended !!!

The room is very comfortable and the staff very friendly. The gym was nice, and I appreciated the international TV channels. Convenient location, a few minutes from a major metro line and down the street from a very nice walkable area.

The front desk was very busy both when we arrived and when we checked out. It was a holiday, so I can understand this to some extent, but the wait to check in was especially long, more than 20 mins. All of the staff was clearly working hard, so it was more of an issue of needing more staff, and perhaps finding a way to speed up the check-in process. For example, paying a deposit for the mini-bar seemed to be adding significant time for each person. Another issue: I had a gallbladder attack in the middle of the night and the staff at the desk were not able to recommend to us a hospital that would be open at that time. My girlfriend needed to find it herself on her phone. For such a large hotel with so many guests, this is information that should be available at the desk, no matter the time. One other small issue that we had was that the pipes in our bathroom were very noisy, to the point that it woke us up a number of times. The sound was unusual for pipes, with irregular spurts and splashing sounds. Perhaps it was a problem just for our room. Overall still very satisfied and would definitely stay here again.

they didn't find our reservation but they solved the problem soon upgrading us to the suite. We really enjoyed our time here .

The Room was pretty clean and the staff was amazing. If you are looking for a premium experience, in a great location, and with the Penta-hotel's Salsa night very close by, nothing but the Renaissance nearby can beat it. I enjoyed my time here and I would stay here again if I get the chance and my budget aligns.

It is a little expensive, but I think that if you want budget, the hotel's sister company "Penta hotel" is more in line for this. It's obviously aimed at the higher end customers who are willing to pay more. If you don't have money to burn, then don't stay here.

I normally stay here when visiting Shanghai. For a business trip the facilities are fantastic, especially the buisness lounge on the top floor. The location is very good with easy access to Hongqio Station.

It is unfortunate (but understandable) that the swimming pool was closed during my recent visit. This was due to it being closed for the winter season not for any problems, it should not be reflected badly upon the hotel.

Liked the 38th floor lounge. Set up was great and staff were great. Rooms were perfect and amenities great. Beds and view were great. Location was good and near subway. Friendly service and clean. Loved the ATM and exchange machines being on premises.

Concierge service had only one person Darcy who understood English and helped out. He was great. The rest of the concierge were not responsive and could not understand. They did not know the layout of Shanghai and could not help in reservations. Had to call Darcy all the time.
