Comfortable room with a decent amount of space, a clean and fully functional bathroom and a good size bed. Some staff were very helpful. Mirna on the front desk is a delight and is very efficient and effective. Pleased that Judith the night manager made a point of asking me how everything was, on her rounds one evening. The building is modern and generally well maintained. Possible to walk to the Lion gate in about 15 minutes, Jaffa gate in 20 mins. A bit uphill on the way back!

Only a shower over the bath, not a free-standing shower. Not the end of the world. Staff mixed in their capacity and willingness to help. See above for strengths. Some reception staff positively unhelpful eg when I asked for a bottle of water at 10.40pm and was told that I’d have to well round the corner to the local shop! I stood my ground and a small plastic bottle of water appeared 5 minutes later. It was clearly possible but he didn’t want to go to the trouble! A bit mean to not divide a fresh bottle or two of water each morning when the room is made up, anyway. These staffing problems are point to management issues. Bar staff slightly overwhelmed sometimes and the wait was a it excessive. Tables were sometimes not tidied and wiped down. Difficult, because at other times the bar was empty. I’d stay here again, on balance.
