King David Jerusalem

The property exudes its history, which is absolutely fascinating. Location is good, walking distance to both the Old Town and restaurants of the City Centre.

To my mind it does not merit its 5 star rating, at least when compared to the “average” 5 star hotel elsewhere (in particular the elite international brands). While undeniably an important fixture in Jerusalem’s modern history, as a place to stay the hotel appears to be sitting on its laurels and living on past glories (those “glories” being evidenced for all to see by the copies of signatures of famous past guests which pave the reception area). The room was perfectly nice, but dated and the air conditioning could do with a thorough clean, as use gave us all allergies. While some staff (notably the doormen and breakfast restaurant staff) were very friendly (especially to our young daughter), the concierge was borderline inept and several of the staff were indifferent at best and rude at worst. I appreciate that these are all first world problems in the greater scheme of things, but when you are paying 5 star prices, a 5 star experience should be received.
