Flight arrived Dusseldorf on time and then spend 20 minutes on the ground, waiting for a gate, resulting in a scramble to reach our connection."

This caused physiological damage for me, as I been treated like an animal 3- I was asked to pay for my new ticket ( Dussloff - Istanbul-Amman )"

Also not much in selection of food at the airport in Dusseldorf."

Plussat: "Love the 767 seating layout with 2-3-2 seating. My hubby and I got 2 by the window/aisle. I like having 2 aisles for walking around. Pasta meal was much more tasty than the chicken meal."

Plussat: "In general, I like the on board food of Austrian and especially in regard of Do&Co catering from Vienna Airport. Staff was not to trying this time but service was still okay."
Miinukset: "The Senator Lounge at Vienna Airport is very poor, food selection is very limited and it is obvious that the focus is on cost saving. Another disadvantage is that the lounge only opens at 5.30am in the morning but first flight already leave Vienna around 6am. Mine was at 7.05am which meant that I just arrived when the lounge opened and I had to wait in a long cue. Boarding was due to the limited space in front of the gate a mess, priority boarding was announced but I was not made sure that priority passengers board first. The seats on board are for business to small and there is not even space to hag up the coat."
Plussat: "Even though I was very disappointed at what the Austrian airline did to me, the staff and crew and captains where professional and the flight was comfortable especially on Lufthansa. However, I missed the experience of enjoying the flight with the group of people that I joined on the way to Vienna and to Egypt."
Miinukset: "I didn't like the fact that they cancelled my Austrian flight to a completely different company (Lufthansa). I paid extra money when I reserved the tickets in the USA to make sure I am on the same plane as the other three families that i wanted to be with as a group. They had reserved their tickets and I got the flight numbers and when I reserved my booking I paid extra to be on the same airplane as the rest of the group. My plan worked going to Vienna and to Cairo (although one of the planes were delayed 3 hours which ruined our stay in Vienna) but on the way back from Cairo to LA, I couldn't be with the group because I left 2 hours early and arrived in LA 2 hours late. I pleaded that I came with a group but they said I have a different booking so they couldn't honor keeping me on the same plane as the group. I am very disappointed and will avoid my future travel with Austrian airline"

Miinukset: "We were advised to arrive at the gate 45 minutes before departure. We waited an hour and a half more until we boarded. The plane was late on arrival but there were no announcements. No one knew what was going on or when we would board. There was no food served whatsoever. Just beverages. There was no entertainment."
Miinukset: "Although AU blamed late arrival of the plane from Russia, fact is that the plane was at least one hour at the dock before boarding and the AU team was just extremely slow to get boarding done. We were all invited 45 minutes before boarding to board, when apologies were already offered for the slight delay, which turned into 1.5 hour overall. Worst is the lack of communication during the 45 minute wait, for which I have little understanding seeing many older people clearly suffering."

Miinukset: "Boarding was chaotic, cramped. Passengers kept lining up only to be sent back to the end of the line after documents were checked three separate times. Only first class passengers were allowed at the gate. Chaotic and frustrating. Not what one would expect of Austrian efficiency!"
Miinukset: "Not a lot of legroom and they should have provided an additional snack during the flight. Did not like that in order to select a seat prior to the check in period I had to pay for the selection."

Plussat: "The crew worked so hard and were always ready to do more for any problem that arose, be it, mothers with babies, the elderly and infirm, the less than gracious occasional passenger, or younger children. The entertaining things on the individual screens also helped make the long periods of sitting more manageable for young and old."
Miinukset: "I didn't like how the passengers in general, left the cabin of the plane in such a mess! The crew came through several times for refuse, so I couldn't understand. Leaving pillows and blankets should be the only thing to clear out. Maybe a note on the TV screen could say, "a tidy plane helps flights be on time :-)""
Plussat: "The coffee was excellent. It was like something from a fancy coffee shop, not a plane"

Plussat: "Baggage in Riga was available the moment we got to the carousel."
Miinukset: "Passport control in Vienna was completely disorganized. This is not an Austrian Air issue. Look to Disney World for how to line up large groups of people. Yes, I know Air Baltic is low fare. I have never paid for water on a flight. At least the WC was included in the fare."
Plussat: "The service on board was fantastic. The flight was very smooth."
Plussat: "I flew to Venice on Austrian Airlines to make a connection on an Air Canada flight to Toronto. When we debarked from the Austrian Airline onto the tarmac and picked up our luggage, I could find no signs indicating where to go for connecting flights, nor any signs indicating the gates of connecting flights. I was told that to make a connecting flight, I should go out to the main lobby of the airport, At the information desk they directed me to the Air Canada check in desk, where I found the check-in for my flight was closed. That was the the beginning of a nightmare chase to get to the plane to Toronto. I made it only because of the kindness of people in the check in, security and customs lines. Austrian Airlines should be kinder to its passengers making connecting flights. They seemed to abandon us passengers in a chaotic airport."

Plussat: "This is one of the most comfortable flights that I undertook this year - I have done more than 20 flights this year."

Miinukset: "Flight was late. This made the connection in Vienna very stressful"
Plussat: "We liked that the boarding process seemed to have been streamlined and organized from other flights (this was a UNITED flight which we flew through Austrian Airlines). It was efficiently done. We thought the selection of movies to watch were terrific. So glad to have caught up on several I had wanted to see. Considering we had a 3 hour delay, I got to catch up on ALL the movies I wanted to watch!"
Miinukset: "The plane was delayed just over 3 hours by a mechanical problem with the radar. We taxied to a remote gate while they tried to fix it. Original estimates were an hour, but it ended up being 3 hours. We stayed onboard which was probably best in this case - but having been trapped by United on a flight many years ago from 4 pm until midnight with 3 small children and then told to come back at 7 am the next day - I am very wary of the airline now and actually drive from Washington to Chicago as we could have done that in the time they trapped us! This flight was practically empty however, so unlike many transatlantic flights, we could spread out and were more comfortable than usual. So that was lucky for United otherwise my scores might have been a LOT worse! Also, we hadn't eaten, figuring that we would eat dinner on the flight. So after 3 hours we were a bit peckish! The crew came around with a cookie and water. Really think that might have been a little more especially considering the flight had so few passengers. So we arrived back in DC just about 10 pm and, after clearing customs and getting bags, were home to Arlington about midnight - 5 am our time! Given the conditions and circumstances, the crew did a good job. I would like to think that Austrian Airlines would have some input with United. The outbound daytime flight from Washington to London had been simply terrific with a wonderful crew - new to the route I think. They gave as pointers as to what we were seeing out the window, which we always appreciate. Just as my daughter wondered what we were seeing out the window, the captain would tell us. So in short, the outbound flight was in a different league to the return flight. But that's down to United and not Austrian Airlines. And these things happen and I'm glad we didn't have to change planes or make other plans."

The refreshment offerings were pathetic.....other than a drink EVERYTHING was FOR SALE......pitiful really. One of the reasons I try to NEVER fly domestically or on US Carriers!"

Where are the movie screens for such a long flight???? 6 1/2 hours of a screaming baby makes for a very uncomfortable journey - also TURN OFF the lights sooner; when people are leaving at 1am; they aren't worried about seeing inside the cabin; they want to be sleeping!!!!"

On my short flight from Basel to Amsterdam, a young French speaking girl was concerned about how to manage getting to her next gate. The flight attendants talked to her and arranged for someone to take her there. On my longer flight from Amsterdam to New York City, there was a customer who was in distress about missing a previous flight and not making it to her connecting flight in New York. One of the flight attendants reassured her until she stopped crying and calmed down. That same flight attendant was always so positive and cheerful in all she did. The rest of the crew was top notch. This was my best experience flying in such a long time. Well done, KLM crews of flights 1984 and 0645 on July 10!"

Even then it took them two days to bring it to us, two precious days off our planned vacation (7 days) At the end of the shortened vacation, we got to the chek in, and told that since the ticket I had purchased form them two months earlier was too cheap ... and since the flight was Over booked, they would take me off the plane if all the passengers would arrive. It's unnecessary to describe what I felt until the plane took off. They apologize constantly, but do nothing practical. a bae company. no me nor my freinds/family will go with KLM"

In the mean time, no drinks, no snacks, nothing. So we should depart at 18:00 but it became 19:30. Our first drinks and meal was no earlier then 21:00. The crew should have anticipated better that the technical problem would at least take one hour and give everyone a drink at least."

Miinukset: "... but a disaster when things go wrong. Too many pilots "sick" on new year day so our HEL-SIN flight was cancelled. We spent three hours at the airport queueing and only getting a hotel. No alternative flight. We spent an hour waiting on line at their call center (no local numbers, only one Finland number) and got rebooked on a super tight HEL-FRA-LHR-SIN connectiob, which we barely made as the connection times were so short. Plus they messed up the checkin so we got denied boarding in Frankfurt and lost our suitcases. Perfect storm... we will NEVER take this airline again. Totally understaffed and I competent. Fly a major airline and pay a little more to avoid things like this..."
Plussat: "HiFly is awful. Terrible food. Really not much service. It gets you from point A to B ..... but not always. Our return flight was cancelled with no reason given. Instead of a 2pm direct we were put on an 8am with a layover. The only saving grace is that our transatlantic was on Delta, which was amazing."

Also, that suitcase was way too heavy and I'm surprised this person was allowed to board the plane with it. Also, boarding was horrible and the flight was late. I will never forget this experience and would avoid flying with Finnair ever again! This was really the worst flight I have ever experienced!"

Miinukset: "There was no reason given why the flight left Helsinki 35 minutes from schedule. Boarding aircraft seem to take a longer time than usual for a full flight. The flight crew during boarding in economy didn't have the push needed to get everyone seated in an efficient manner. The tv screen does not move out far enough to view when the person in front has their seat all the way back. Selection is limited compared to the non stop flight previous from Miami to Helsinki. There isn't an option to view the flight details in flight which is interesting to some passengers. At least have the option."

Plussat: "The Airbus 330 is an improvement over the Boeing 737 that took me to Europe (via Milan) on this trip. Unlike that flight, this plane is equipped with an updated on demand entertainment system. I attribute the upgraded airplane to the fact that this was a direct flight from HEL to JFK. Still no wifi though... Their magazine says it's coming. Upgrading to Economy Comfort is worth the fee especially if you get a bulkhead seat. Otherwise you are still pretty crammed in with maybe 6" more leg room. But the bulkhead seats are set well back from the wall to give my long legs plenty of room to stretch and get in and out of my seat. My friends in Economy looked miserable :( The chili con carne with rice was an improvement over other airline meals but still room for improvement - mostly in presentation I guess. Lingonberry 'salad' though a bit sour for me, was a nice Finnish dish to sample. Like the cheese and crackers. Departed and arrived on time. Liked the flight tracking that showed you very detailed what you were passing over and even gave us a bit of info and photos about highlights of each region flown over. Nice touch."
Miinukset: "This plane was such an improvement over the "bucket" that flew me to Europe that it has restored my faith in Finnair as a valid carrier for my yearly trip to Europe - like I said, probably because it is a direct flight to New York rather than connecting to another European (not Scandanavian) city like Milan. I would probably not use Finnair to access other parts of Europe for this reason. (On the departure end, the regional Finnair flight from Milan to Helsinki was also sub-standard.) I do think the check-in procedure is still cumbersome - self check in with bag check, though started at kiosks, still results in a long line just to hand off your bag to a counter agent. A few more agents would likely solve that problem... But it was better than going the other way - JFK was a nightmare! Helsinki only slightly better."

Plussat: "I most liked milk lactose low for my coffee . I can't criticize about food because I was offered only beverage this time with only an hour flight. Hehe ."
Miinukset: "Nothing made me uncomfortable except for the concern about stealers in most of Europe . I didn't experience it yet but tons of times I've heard about stories of tourists ."
Plussat: "I loved the service. The flight attendants were attentive and courteous. They walked through the cabin periodically to offer water in the 6 hours or so between meal services, and also had self-service drinks and snacks in the galley during that time. Flight attendants asked passengers to put their seats forward during meal times, which very few airlines do. It was the same level of service I have come to expect from the Asian carriers that I usually fly (ANA, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Singapore). The meals were fine, and so was the entertainment. There was a decent choice of movies."
Miinukset: "The economy seats were narrow and cramped on the A340. I was in the first row of economy that wasn't premium economy. Even though the person in front of me had loads more legroom than me, he had his seat all the way back for almost the entire flight and hit me in the head while I was reaching for my bag under the seat in front of me. In order to get to anything in my bag, I had to put my head into the aisle because there wasn't enough room to bend down. Because of the angle of the seats, it was nearly impossible to get into and out of the row (and I was on the aisle)."

Miinukset: "They don't give you options about what kind of food you prefer like carne / pasta , there is just one menu option. Any kind of snack between the two meals in a 11 hours flight. If you get hungry you will have to buy snacks on board . No legroom"

Boarding: flight delayed for more than 1 hour, with passengers sitting all this time in the plane and waiting for all connection flights to arrive. As a result we arrived late for our connection flight. The Finnair people that met the passengers on exit form the plain did not provide any information how we should proceed next. We were left to figure it out by ourselves. Crew: The impression was that all the flight attendants from HiFly were untrained. The did not know what to do an how to do. They seemed lost on the plane. Comfort: Plane seemed to be re-purchased from some Arab airline. Food: bad Entertainment: v system was broken. Information system was showing wrong current time."

In both the flights from EWR to OSLO and back, every aspect of the trip was super, except for the wait for baggage. In Oslo, I estimate having waited at least a half an hour at the carousel before the bags started showing up, and the same in Newark. We had long cleared Immigration, which normally is not a speedy process, and yet still had to wait at least 20 minutes for the FIRST bag to appear on the carousel. Most annoying, particularly after a relatively long flight, and especially for transfer passengers who needed to recheck their bags to continue to other destinations."

Miinukset: "My husband was unable to check in on line. SAS when contacted by phone which was difficult to do because it is hard to locate their number had no explanation other than maybe due to security. We missed a tour due to the time spent (unsuccessfully) trying to solve this problem."

Miinukset: "Not sure why they only have like 20 movies, most of which are not good. Delta has hundreds of movies to choose from. Old and new. When entertainment is included in the high price of these long haul trips, it helps to have a semi-decent selection."

I ended up paying 140 additional Euros for two bags. It appears that SAS's pricing is gaming the system when searching for flights or that Kayak is not being up-front about the type of fare they are advertising."
Plussat: "I purchased Plus and found it a good value. My seat on the overseas leg was comfortable -- though it could have reclined better. The food & drink service was conducted as at an elegant restaurant."

My friends booked with Expedia the exact itinerary and were able to reach a human and we're told that SAS always reimburses for cancellations. I finally emailed vayamas/kayak to cancel and 5 days later received a reply that there was no cancellation refund. Apparently Kayak provides a no communication/no refund policy. My travel companion had the opposite experience with Expedia."

Plussat: "Business class upgrade was very nice. Food was good and entertainment options were above par. Loved the quality of the pillows and blankets. Also loved the fresh fruit and candy snacks."
Miinukset: "The gate agents refused to provide my boarding pass until the entire plane had boarded already. I was one of the last people on. I wasn't given a reason for this or assured I wouldn't be put on a later flight. This caused a lot of stress during my layover."
Plussat: "I requested a gluten free meal and was happy with it."
Miinukset: "leg room was a bit tight"

Miinukset: "Each time I fly SAS, it seems that a service that was free must now be paid for."
Plussat: "The seats were comfortable and the leg room was enough. Nice selection of music and movies."
Miinukset: "My luggage was ripped open. The suitcase is damaged. Alcoholic drinks are not free(even on the international flight, which I never experienced). Trays with food stay forever on your table( slow service).on The 7hour long international flight you can hardly sleep because the food is at the awkward times and it's not cleaned up in forever afterwards. Not very friendly crew."
Miinukset: "Flight delayed two hours before take off."
Plussat: "Everything went as planned, good terminal for connecting flights"

Miinukset: "The entertainment was out of date so there were no on demand movies which is not okay for that long of a flight"
Miinukset: "Newark to Oslo to Kristiansand. The "connecting" flight procedure was horrible. There was no way to forward the luggage, except pick it up, and then stand in long line, check in, etc etc., as if it were an entirely new flight. On phone they told me there would be expedited procedure. It was like taking an entirely new flight. All other countries have this worked out. What happened? I nearly missed my second flight."
Miinukset: "We missed our connecting flight and were sent to spend a night in Germany."
Miinukset: "arrived late to the airport (my fault) but still in time to make flight. online check in wasn't working the day before. kiosks at airport wouldn't print a boarding pass although it said i was already checked in and nobody was at the desk to print me a boarding pass. dissapointing experience to say the least. ended up missing my flight and only being refunded the tax (about 20% of the total ticket cost)"
Plussat: "Even in economy I felt like there was enough leg room."
Miinukset: "They left the cabin lights on for the first two or three hours of the flight in order to serve a meal, which felt unnecessary because the flight left at 10:05 pm, and I was trying to sleep for the whole flight to avoid jet lag."
Plussat: "I had a wonderful flight. It was very smooth and the service was the best. It was so good I had to ask the gentleman's name! So, thank you, SAS, and three cheers to Steen Mejer for his excellent hospitality in the air. Anders DJ ADD"

Plussat: "Automated check in was quite easy. Boarding was fast and we left on time. Flight crew was professional. I would fly SAS again"
Miinukset: "Food was awful. Seats are very uncomfortable. Only one free drink is ridiculous. Interior of the plane was in very poor condition and the toilets were extremely dirty and in various states of disrepair."
