No warmth or empathy. Planes are showing their age, particularly in the seat monitors. Screens have dead zones with inoperative icons. Also, quite a few seats were literally falling apart. But, when you fly to more countries than any other airline, some wear-and-tear is to be expected."

Miinukset: "Everything. I paid a lot of money for this ticket. When I tried to check in yesterday I was denied. When I called the ticketing office, they explained that everything was fine with the ticket, and I would indeed have a seat, but I would have to go to the airport. I even asked them about the possibility of overbooking but they said that wasn't a risk. (I am Star Gold so I didn't think that was possible.) When at the airport they wouldn't give me a seat and they bumped me leading to many hours of confusion, a connection through Tanzania, and a loss of a night of sleep. And lots of stress. I know they de-prioritized the people who booked on Kayak. This was a miserable experience and unless you do something to fix this I will never use Kayak again."

Plussat: "The flight attendants were very acccomodating. The movie choices were great, which is very important while on a 12 hour flight. They handed everyone a warm, wet wash cloth before dinner was passed. Everyone also received a package that included a pair of slippers, lip balm, tooth brush and tooth paste. We hadn't received anything like this on any of our other flights. These were small jesters that make you feel great!"

There was a priority line, but for some reason I didn't get in it, although I fly business. The line was not that long but it just did not move. And the a/c was not working. Worst boarding experience ever and I've been flying for over 40 years. When I boarded finally I asked if I could give a review and although they said yes- nothing. So I hope someone who cares sees this."

I was flying as a tourist from Switzerland, but it was easy to notice the condescending manner in which the African passengers were treated. I noticed the same attitude at immigration services in Frankfurt, were the officers were openly teasing, laughing at and harassing an Eritrean man. Some of the comments passed were frankly disgusting..."

Miinukset: "The flight was transferred to a smaller plane, either because there were few passengers (the first story we heard) or because of mechanical problems on the original craft (the second story). Business class was oversold as a result, and boarding was delayed for an hour while they waited for enough BC passengers to accept 800 euros for the downgrade to economy plus. They repeatedly threatened to cancel the flight rather than raise the offer. Eventually enough knuckled under and we were allowed to leave. Some no doubt missed connections because of this petty brinkmanship. The funny coda is that because the plane was so undersold, anyone in economy that wanted their own row could have one, while economy plus was packed with the embittered and downgraded."

Seats were okay but no recline and underseat storage was small. (Backpack wouldn't fit underseat and had to be stored in overhead.) Passengers crowding from back of plane upon arrival made it hard to deplane and felt rude."
Miinukset: "People may think,that the delay of the flight has set my mood for this review but I can ensure it has most definitely not. With all the bad weather, I was already very happy to connect right on time in Paris. However, a long haul A380 flight with such a tight seat configurstion is almost embarrassing for an airline. The in flight entertainment is at a very poor level, not only with the screen being very small and outdated, many of the movies are only available in French and the international selection very limited. The food was not much of a delight, whereas the presentation was nice. However, in all the 7 h between the services, nobody came around with refreshments in a completely booked flight, neither was announced that a trolly would be set for self service in the galley. Lucky the ones who got up and found out about. In terms of amenities, again, the airline is lacking of originality and saves cost. Bottom line: you get from A to B, but there are so many better competitors in the market, which I shall definitely consider on my next travel."

Plussat: "It’s acctually the second time , just last week 23rd , our flight with delta got delayed that made us missed our connecting flight and I had to pass through Nairobi, female crew serving snacks came over to me with snacks and told me I ordered low fat food which I did and I asked her if it was ok if I had chicken that day she insisted that had ordered low fat mean and that’s what she has to serve me and I had to tell her again I needed chicken, she started arguing with me over snacks she got offended and she just threw food in my hand almost dropped to the floor , I think that was not professional at all. And today again coming to Nairobi the female crew came over serving snacks again and requested if I could have some wet wipes my hands were dirty dirty because had seen a crew handing out with to the people in the front raw but she answered me it was in the bank and she kept on and I again asked the male crew and he explained to me that they mostly don’t give wet wipes for short flights but I had wet wipes when I flew to Nairobi from Amsterdam and I had too when I left Nairobi to Uganda , what’s the point of serving foods when passengers gotta eat with dirty hands , and today again-the same female crew skipped the first raw of two males with snacks who were seated in front of us and even if they told her they missed the snacks, she stood there and called the male crew just unprofessionally to bring the snacks for the gentleman and she just never cared . I think they should do better thanks ."

I had to leave the airport to find a place with wifi because I didn't have service and the airport doesn't have WiFi. I had to contact a family back home in the US to wire me money. The money never came thru and I had to make a cash advance with my credit card which resulted in me having to pay fees. The entire process almost caused me to miss my flight and the lady at the check-in counter tried to keep my change. After wasting all the time getting the money to pay for the extra bag fee the staff were rushing me to get to the plane and threatening me I would be left behind even though it's not my fault I'm running late. I was not happy with my experience."

Miinukset: "My Air India and Kenya Airways flights were packaged together as though they were a code share, but when my initial let on Air India from Delhi to Mumbai was delayed I missed my connection to Nairobi. What followed was a bizarre five-hour scramble in the Mumbai airport that ranks in the top three worst flight experiences I’ve ever had. I had already checked in and had a emailed boarding pass, but wasn’t let through security without the official airline printout. Although the Kenya Airways Nairobi flight was also delayed and was still several hours from boarding, their staff was nowhere to be found and none of their 10+ customer service numbers was working. I finally managed to get a hold of a representative over the phone via the airport’s information counter, and she swore that a staff member was on the way to meet me. Two hours and several calls and assurances later, the flight took off without me and the Kenya Airways staff stopped picking up the phone. Then there was a crazy several hours of back and forth as a single employee emerged and demanded that I get a letter from Air India taking responsibility for the initial delay, before disappearing again for several hours. The disorganization, unprofessionalism and outright lies I encountered were frankly bizarre and unlike anything I’ve encountered while flying before."
Plussat: "This company obviously trains its employees to belittle and disregard customers. I have never dealt with a company so at fault for an issue and so utterly unwilling to make up for it. First, they cancel the first of our 3 flights to Delhi 18 hrs before it is to leave. The flight they replaced it with would leave us 10 min to make the connection. So we went to the counter and they told us they'd hold the plane, as did the stewardess on the flight. They lied. The plane left 10 min before we landed. We were stranded. Also, I got food poisoning from their food. They did nothing to help. They would not pay for the hotel we wanted, when we asked they rudely served everyone else they stranded first. The employee would not call his supervisor or give his name. The next morning i saw a doctor but the stomache infection was so bad i couldn't sit up or walk. The doctor wrote this on my clearance to fly document. I needed to get to India to get better medical help. We presented this to the kenya airlines agent and she would do nothing to help. She had business class reclining seats available but would not upgrade me. Even after everything this shitty airline has caused. Unbelievable. Every step along the way of this nightmare could have been made better, so much better, by some human decency but instead we got rude disregard."

Miinukset: "Kenya changed my flight to two hours later 18 hours before I was to leave. Making me have a 10 minute connection. Then after an hour in a airline office they promised to hold my connection. When my flight landed on time, they did not hold my connection. So they changed my flight and didn’t follow through on the fix. We would now miss wedding activities and business meetings. Then my partner got sick and they refused to taxi us to hotel for the night but take a bus that leaves every three hours. Her sickness got worse and there was a Kenyan airlines doctor who evaluated her at the airport after waiting 40 minutes laying at check in with her crying due to pain. We had a medical release from the doctor saying she needed extra space to lay down but the check in manager refused to make room for her saying the flight is full and she would not upgrade her to accommodate the medical release because we had an economy ticket. My partner looked so bad that the flight crew considered kicking us off but eventually made the space for her to lay down and were helpful on the flight. This is this disgraceful and the worst experience I’ve had with any company."
Plussat: "Trip on the Dreamliner to/from Nairobi/Joburg went very smoothly. Entertainment was limited but worked and was fine for a 4 hour trip. Food was nothing great but nothing disastrous, booze was handed out willingly, staff were efficient, plane was on time - I rate it higher than SAA for the same leg and would choose KA again."

Miinukset: "The seats were so tightly packed that it was impossible to sit straight. It was like being in some medieval torture device. I was in constant physical discomfort, verging on outright pain, for 9 hours. It was HORRIBLE. Also, the "dinner" served in-flight was unfit for a dog."

Miinukset: "No seat assignments honored, handwritten boarding passes, lost luggage, extremely old plane with no entertainment and bad air quality. No lounge for sky priority with Kenya airways at Abidjan airport."

Captain only announced when parking slot became available. It took long to get baggage delivered to domestic side and when baggage arrived some including mine were wet with stinking liquid in spite of no rain around airport. at the end Passengers on a later flight made it smoothly out and eventually lost 45 minutes since landing and dirty baggage."

Miinukset: "Economy Class Boarding should be done by Seat numbers or Aisle numbers. Fuselage Aisle numbers should be called first so they enter and get seated. Than other Aisle numbers should be called to be seated until the front up to Business Class is filled. It gets congested in the Aisle and frustration as passengers bump into seats and each other."
Miinukset: "Boarding was late."
Miinukset: "I was wrongly suspected of something in the security check at Kigali Int'l Airport and further screening stole my time to the point that I missed my flight! When I went to a Kenya Airway agent for assistance, I was advised to buy a new air ticket or pay a fee to have my flight changed, which I did and my flight was scheduled for the following day. The following day, the flight was delayed almost for two hours in Kigali and then 1.5 hours in Nairobi. Don't fly Kenya Airway! Their customer care service are terrible, their disability services very poor. Avoid this airline , please!"
