Entertainment selection not as good as the American flight out. The JAL website (English version at least) is not very easy to use."

Plussat: "I've been always flying with U.S. airlines this past several years just because transits are easier. I forgot about how friendly and nicer JAL crews are. Their food is much much better. They served us with a cup of Haagen-Dazs icecream for dessert while a Fatboy is normally served by other airlines. I was impressed by how spacious the foot area of their economy seat is. Because I felt quite comfortable, I slept five hours straight during the flight which is phenomenal to me. I will definitely fly with JAL again!"

Plussat: "The crews on ANA (Flight Attendants) are the hardest working, most polite and service oriented of ANY carrier I can remember. When the cabin lights are ON, the crew is hustling to keep the passengers occupied and chewing. Free Beer, Wine and mixed drinks in Coach! Every Service - Snack, Drinks, Lunch, Dinner, Coffee/Tea, Second and Third rounds of drinks includes a cold towel to wipe your face and hands and most important, trash is collected promptly EVERY single time. WOW. I noticed that Flight Attendants take notes on sleeping passengers for every major meal service, and they take the time to revisit those customers when awake to check they might have wanted to be fed. I also noticed that the crew has special double sided tape to pickup crumbs and spills in the aisles so grime is not tracked into the carpet. Dont be surprized to see a flight attendant cruising the aisle after dinner with a soft cooler full of small vanilla Hagen Daz cups..."
Miinukset: "We flew from Bangkok to Washington Dulles with a connection in Tokyo. Snow in Japan caused crew shifts to max out and ultimately a dramatic change in flight departure. (Guaranteeing a missed connection) This caused multiple downstream challenges. 1. Original flight was scheduled for 00:30. (Half Past Midnight), rescheduled flight was scheduled for 12:30 (Half Past Noon) For Americans unused to a 24 hour clock, this made emails From ANA very difficult to wrap your mind around. Was it a typo? What happens when you miss your connection? (Turns out weather delays do NOT result in accommodations or meals being provided) Rescheduled flight should have been for 1231 with (AM/PM in Parentheses) 2. For passengers who spent their vacation/trip near the equator, the prospect of spending the night in snowbound Tokyo was simply not addressed in the cancellation email. The better option was to stay in your original point of origin and make the connection in one day, but email has NO telephone number for passengers to call to make these arrangements. (We ended up calling a toll California telephone number to be sure we got an English speaking agent) 3. Many SE Asian departing cities have a crazy baggage weight policy that allows for Two bags of 25 Kilos each , but if you have a single bag that weights 32 Kilos, you must pay excess baggage. Although the policy may NOT be specific to ANA, there are hundreds of folks of all nationalities repacking suitcases on the floor of the airport, to try to meet the regulations. As a traveler I understand this, but as an ANA customer it makes no sense, especially when the ticket agent cannot charge the overage to a credit card at the ticket counter. Instead sending you to a different location then waiting for you to return with a receipt. Its a huge scam and ANA can do better communicating the rules to passengers via email or their web site. Nothing starts a long trip off worse than arguments over arcane rules. 4. Changing a return flight arrangement as a result of weather happens at the last moment, but seat assignments apparently could not keep up. I would rather NOT fly than face a center seat in coach for 14 hours. I cannot explain what happened, but repeated attempts at advance check in showed NO assigned seats available, the ticket and gate agents could not improve on this, but BOTH flights ended up having empty seats and in the end we stressed for nothing. ANA must be able to do better, improving their IT systems to make advance seat assignments possible no matter how challenging the problem of "equipment" and other changes in the face of a canceled flight."

I couldn't use self-check-in for my bad because I was flying to America and for some reason, this meant I had to hand my suitcase to someone rather than just putting it on the conveyor belt. There were about 8 people ahead of me, and yet it took a solid hour of standing in line waiting to get to the counter. How it could possibly have been so insanely slow is beyond me. When it was finally my turn to submit my bag it literally took 30 seconds. And yet I had to wait an hour. Grade: F-"
Plussat: "The crew was amazing, friendly and on-top of it. the filght was great. I was next too a large, smelly man and that affected my flight, but that was out of the airline crew's control made the flight a bit uncomfortable."
Miinukset: "Not to be seated next to a large man and a child behind me kicking my seat. Again, items out of your control. There is one item, and that is, I forgot to request a vegan food option and it would have been nice to have one last minute even though I did not request it."
Plussat: "Fell asleep and didn’t even realise. Finnair is very friendly and the staff are super nice. I was very thirsty and asked for two cups of water instead of one and the lady was not hesitant to give me two cups in quick succession. Very good air company"

Finnair also lost my checked in bag and delivered it 36 hours later without providing any compensation. Coming back the flight was delayed due to mechanical reasons, which caused a number of passengers miss connecting flights. This is one of the things that can happen to any airline, but only Finnair failed to provide an agent to take care of the passengers who missed their flights. So, after a 2 hour delay and 7 hours of traveling in the air, the stranded passengers had to find an agent in JFK who would rebook their flights. One of the worst traveling experiences. Will never travel Finnair again!"
Plussat: "The flight did eventually take off, unlike a few others leaving around the same time."
Miinukset: "We were delayed several hours and were never told why. Mostly there were no Aeroflot staff at the gate to ask. When there was, they said they couldn't help us because our flight was a codeshare with FinnAir. At the last minute they switched gates, sending us all scurrying."

Need more coffee aboard the flight. ANA cleans the bathroom periodically, and wouldn't be bad to do the same on long flights. The arm rest between seats don't go all the way up, only half way. If the person in front of you is asleep during meal service, the FA (flight attendant) won't lift the seat and it may be a very uncomfortable meal experience. Other airlines will have the FA do it themselves. ...and you need to be careful about staying awake to get food (otherwise you can get forgotten)."

Plussat: "I flew in economy. 9+ hours from ORD to HEL. The seat was average size. We were provided with a pillow, blanket and headphones. I did not use the in-flight entertainment, which was on an LCD screen. It was warm, so i didn't use the blanket. I also brought a neck-pillow, which is vital on overnight flights. They served a full dinner shortly after takeoff: I had meat lasagna which wasn't that bad, along with corn, a roll w/ butter, two saltine crackers with decent cheese and a chocolate pudding. Upon waking, I ate the breakfast, which was scrambled eggs and two sausages and a roasted tomato, a roll with butter, fruit cup and orange juice, coffee on the side. All pretty good, it was nice to have a meal before deplaning in Helsinki and waiting to get through passport control. Attendants on this flight were quite friendly. Check-in was run very efficiently. No problems with luggage. All in all, a real bargain price, and I got more than I bargained for."

The food was excellent. It was interesting that the flight from Helsinki to Chicago served a Indian style dinner comprising of lentils, rice and chickpeas. I liked that too, though I prefer the meditarranean fare. I liked the boarding as they were very strict about families with children and gave them priority before other passengers."
Miinukset: "I did not find too many indian films which I would have liked, especially in a flight because Indian movies are 3 hours long and help to pass the time quickly :). I would have liked more variety in the Hollywood movies as well. They mostly had much older films and hardly any of the new releases while Emirates flight had lot many more new releases and oscar winning movies. They served the Indian amul cheese which is not worthy of serving on a flight, and they could have served some better cheese."

I asked, online, twice, if we could have a couple of extra kg for hand pieces. Rec’d only auto. luggage policy. Forced to check both bags."

Miinukset: "Boarding agent forced me to check in my carry-on even though the carry-on fit in the cage and fullfilled all the requirements. I specifically called Air France prior to the flight to make sure I won’t have any issues as my 1st flight was operated by Delta and I wanted to confirm the luggage requirements were the same. My carry-on weighted only 5 kilos. I was extremely upset the way I was treated w/ the boarding agent behind the counter in Prague. On the top of that, her and the supervisor were very rude to my mom as they told her she had an extra carry-on which wasn’t the case. She traveled w/ a small briefcase where her mask for sleep apnea was. This is not considered an additional carry-on. The boarding agent (Czech lady and her supervisor) were not only rude but obviously lacked knowledge as well. My carry-on suitcase would easily fit in the overhead bin plus there was plenty of space inside the plane as it the flight wasn’t completely full."

Miinukset: "It is very difficult to get around CDG airport with a disabled person. There is no shuttle. By the time we got to check in, we were ten minutes late. They would not check us in, and we paid over $700 to change tickets to the next flight. When I complained, I was told to stop being rude or I would get no ticket at all. My mother is 94 years old and we did the best we could given the circumstance."

When the dog rightfully acted defensive trying to protect me, the crew member started threatening me that he would have the dog sent to cargo, the last thing a person with an emotional support pet wants to hear. Extreme lack of professionalism."

(Staff allowed it to be a bit pushy and chaotic and people were able to force their way in line, ahead of those who had been waiting in line.) Seats were okay but no recline and underseat storage was small. (Backpack wouldn't fit underseat and had to be stored in overhead.) Passengers crowding from back of plane upon arrival made it hard to deplane and felt rude."

Miinukset: "Sitting in the middle two seats in the center of the 777 left me stuck for most of the flight. Got up only once. Wife's feet and ankles were swollen by the end of the flight. Not enough legroom to move much during the flight and not enough aisle space to get around with the plane so full. Have made flights twice as long on the 747 and were able to get up and walk."
Plussat: "Loved the lovely food and wine from Air France, they even serve fresh french bread with camembert, ice cream, champagne (in economy) and brandy with your coffee!"
Miinukset: "The cabin on the 777-200 was far too hot (about 25c) and with no individual air vent I found this unbearable on a 12 hour flight. And despite the flight taking place entirely during daylight hours and leaving at 10:30 am, inexplicably we were made to all pull our blinds down and the lights went off after a couple of hours - in the middle of the day and for about 8 hours! So although I had paid for a window seat there was nothing to see apart from the window shade. As it was the middle of the day I could not go to sleep, the person in front of me reclined fully so for me the flight was a hot, claustropobic, dark hell. An utterly miserable experience. I felt like I was going mad, trapped in my own little cell."
