Plussat: "My seat and my son's seat were booked apart on the both flights. So I requested the representatives at the check in counters at both airports to change our seats so that we could seat next each other. They were willing to help us out and we got the great seats. They had to ask other customers to help this out, too. In the airplanes, the flight attendants were extremely helpful and friendly when we asked them questions and favors, with nice smiles and calm quiet voices. No wonder the atmosphere was very relaxing and quiet during the both flights. The leg room was roomier and the facilities were newer. When I saw three pilots bowed to the customers before getting into the airplane, I felt they were very professional and ready for their jobs."

Plussat: "The ground crew in HKG airport was really helpful."
Miinukset: "I have been flying JAL from HK to Boston numerous times and by far my favourite (over Cathay and don't even need to mention United). However this past trip gave me a new perspective. Given it is a Japanese airline and all, it is normal for them to be Japanese-centric. We had an a-hole sitting in front of us at 51F during our flight to Narita and he was trying hard to argue with us in English, and even told us to move to another seat. When I had the flight attendant (her name is Sako on flight JL736 on Jul 26) over to discuss (in English) she went to the guy in front of us and started apologizing to him. For what??? She then came back to us speaking in Japanese and brushed the issue away. Sorry, no this was not acceptable, even though my fiance was okay with the situation."

Plussat: "checking in at chicago ohare ord was a nightmare.there were only 12 of us in line yet the wait exceeded 1 hour , we watched as the airlines next to us processed well over 150 passenger's while the japan airline moved slower than snail sex. it was painfully beyond slow."

Plussat: "I liked that the seats were a 2-4-2 configuration. Most American carriers will have a 3-5-3 seating configuration. JAL has won some prestigious seat awards in 2015 for innovation and comfort."
Miinukset: "The JAL website specified most trans-atlantic flights with the newer and more spacious seating in Premium Economy. Departing from San Diego, this was only an option once a year I was told at the check in counter. I was counting on extra width and legroom as I am 270 lbs and 73" tall. I was disappointed that these up-gradable seats were not available. I also did not like that we sat on the Oksaka tarmac at a divert airport from Narita (Tokyo) and were not given an option to leave the plane and find alternate transportation of our choice to get us to our destination. I understand the high winds and bad weather was not allowing us to land on time, but we sat on the tarmac for 2 1/2 hours and then left to fly into Narita 5 hours late."
Plussat: "There are just some wonderful travel things that happen perfectly, automatically, and with follow-up from the provider. The Japan Airlines flight from Tokyo Narita to Busan, Korea was one of those pleasant experiences. But then again, all of my Japan Airlines flights have been that way. I go out of my way to seek their flights!"
Plussat: "Very cramped for business class, old equipment. Poor quality food."
Plussat: "Boarding at Narita was excellent. Comfort in Economy isn't great, although as expected. The food was good, the crew excellent."

Miinukset: "This is the second time I've been doing follow-up flights It's a nightmare you're not professional at all. It's my last flight with you You need to be ashamed you're not just wearing a card to sell I'm going to sue you You give a short follow-up flight. It is impossible to get the flight. You do not update the distance from gate D to gate F I got stuck in the field until the next day without the suitcase and all the people I had arranged with them in Shanghei I could not meet You should be ashamed"

Crew was not updated with the times and left 45 minutes late which made us miss our connection flight and Im writing this while waiting for the next one we had to schedule. My 11 months old is with us and this was very inconvenient to say the least"

Miinukset: "It took 90 mins to park the plane after landing and we couldn't do anything but remain in the seats the whole entire time. The entertianment shows should be available for people after landing. My screen was broken from the beginning and I told the crew about it either change the seat or restore but she ignored my request three times. In the end, after an hour later no one did anything,I finally went to the back of the plane to do something. Bad customer service."

Miinukset: "I had received a boarding pass to the gate #15 and was waiting next to that gate for the boarding. Sheremetievo changed it to the gate #2 and call my last name with completely wrong pronunciation. When I realized that my plane is leaving I had to run more than 1 mile to the gate #2 for the 3 min. You have to be a world champion to do it in time so I was 2 min late. The company forced me to buy a new ticket for $100 from Moscow to St Petersburg and said that they never recognize that that is their fault. Several other people were late to that plane."
Miinukset: "Unpleasant staff lost luggage- we were two days in Shangai without lugage"
Miinukset: "The flight was mostly older Mainland Chinese people that tend to be a bit rowdy crowd. In this case so much so that they did not allow to sleep or watch a movie comfortably. Several of them stood when landing even before the plane had slowed down. I understand that these people do not know the rules but I think is responsible fo the crew to enforce the rules. I have had the same situation flying Delta and United and in both airlines every time something like this happens the crew comes to put order. This is for comfort and security of other passengers."
Miinukset: "Kayak apparently is out of touch with the companies it ‘provides’ traveling thru. Your flight might be cancelled, but kayak will tell you that everything is fine. Not using the app anymore. Expidia is way more reliable."
Plussat: "The Entertainment system on long haul flights essential. I also liked the slippers and eye mask, although I rarely can sleep on the flight."
Miinukset: "The food service really isn't very good. On two of my Aero flights they offered drink service (wine is complimentary beer is not) and hour before the meal. That's fine, but there is nothing offered during the meal(s). Not even water. Several passengers had to contact the attendents to bring coffee because we were offered none. This happened twice. Also, for breakfast there was no egg option, just oatmeal and pancakes. The attendents' English is not that great for international flights--you have to wonder how they are assigned these flights."
Plussat: "Again, the in-flight experience was pleasant. I will definitely use Aeroflot in future, and has already recommended it to my friends."
Miinukset: "However, the Sheremetyevo Airport could use some improvement, especially the airport space management which needs to be streamlined. First, for international transfer, a big crowd had to squeezed into a small space and wait for security check. Secondly, there are too many shops in the waiting areas, and the passengers had to compete for space and sit on stairs, while the internal air quality was quite poor which became more severe in summer. Thirdly, the toilets need a complete re-vamp. It was not a pleasant experience to use toilet."

Miinukset: "I could not choose seats before my flights and was given a middle seat at the airport in Helsinki even though I was one of the first ones to check-in."

Miinukset: "Holy hell, they are late. On a clear day, the board was littered with delays, gate changes, and cancellations. We were three hours late both outbound and inbound. Moscow airport leaves much to be desired as well. Not my first choice of a place to spend six to ten hours."

I ended up paying 140 additional Euros for two bags. It appears that SAS's pricing is gaming the system when searching for flights or that Kayak is not being up-front about the type of fare they are advertising."

Miinukset: "The plane was hot and stuffy the entire trip. There are no longer individual controls for air. It was so uncomfortable and we were hot a sweaty the whole flight. The crew said that there was nothing they could do about it."

Miinukset: "The SFO crew was not helpful at all. Upon check-in, the SFO to Copenhagen leg of the flight was 2.5 hours delayed. When I expressed concern to the SFO ground crew, they said "You'll be taken care of in Copenhagen" in a very dismissive manner. I noted that we would miss our connecting flight (Copenhagen to LHR) and that there wouldn't be another direct flight that day. The SFO crew member told me that I was wrong that there was another flight available (a 4:30 pm flight). I told her that that flight wasn't on the SAS website and she told me that I didn't know what I was talking about in a rude manner. When I arrived in Copenhagen, the ground crew informed me that there was not a 4:30 pm flight and there never was. To get to London, I had to be fly first to Frankfurt then to London on another airline. Overall, this delay cost me over 6 hours. Utterly unacceptable and will never fly SAS again."
Miinukset: "We paid $90 per checked bag. When we purchased our tickets we were never given an option to purchase luggage ahead of time, we were under the impression that luggage was included."
Miinukset: "This is our third delay with this airline on this trip and all they will do is send you to their service center which in Copenhagen is located so far from the gates it's a joke. Once again they are doing their best to discourage any interaction with their customers."

I reserved the tickets to Shanghai but there were no place reminding me that I need Canadian VISA to connect flights between two Canadian cities. I am a Chinese citizen who is working at USA and not allowed to change flights in Canada based on the newest government rules. However, in both booking systems, there is no reminders. In my opinion, either Kayak or Air Canada can add a simple checkbox to let the potential guest choose his or her nationality status, then this kind of trouble can be mitigated. We talked and called Air Canada people but no buying. They kept saying this is our responsibility. We bought United Airline tickets at the last minutes and cost us about $2,400 because we cannot wait to get back China to prepare our wedding ceremony and US Visa interview. We are very very disappointed with Air Canada and will keep complaining about this issue. As a service supplier, how cannot you think on behalf of a customer? The air company definitely knows more about government rules than a customer. We did have mistakes of not researching government rules. However, the biggest mistake was we trusted Air Canada and Kayak who we thought had taken care of those kind of issues for us. Thanks."

Miinukset: "Usually the Hindu Vegetarian meals are quite nice, but these ones were not. I have eaten a lot of Indian and Middle Eastern food, and I could not identify what this was supposed to be. The basmati rice had the consistency of oatmeal. The first meal was tasteless and the second meal had too much hot spice, but still no flavour. The bread they gave with the meal was tiny and tasteless compared to the lovely ciabatta rolls served with the regular meals."

This is the Air Canada."

Miinukset: "Hardly any space, 5'8 & my knees were hitting the seats in front of me. Attendant was unfriendly & neglectful. Somehow everyone got a drink except for me, then when asked for a glass of water it never did come... Made me check (my only) luggage upon boarding because attedant said it was too large... meanwhile I've traveled around the world with this exact same carry on luggage, never without a problem. Had to then wait 30min to get my (only) bag upon landing."

A crying baby would have been a welcone change. I think the crew should have stepped in."

There wasn't enough room for me to reach my bag that was on the ground even when the seat in front of me wasn't reclined. And the people next to me kept jabbing me with their elbows because three grown adults simply could not sit next to one another in such a small space. I'm a small person so if I feel crammed on a flight I have no idea how the average person can tolerate it!"
Plussat: "The aircraft was very new and the food was good for airline food and they had vegetarian options."
Miinukset: "The boarding process was very unorganized. Roughly 20 people were not assigned seats and had to receive their seats at the gate. However when we all stood in line, the crew did not help anyone but talked with one another and then only one helped for about two minutes before disappearing. I was second in line and I stood there for over 30 minutes. Then once we boarded the flight, the crew was very rude when speaking to customers. Overall the crew was very unorganized and extremely rude."
Plussat: "Plane was late due to Stewart missing the bus from their hotel?...seriously unprofessional and the check in staff lying to customers to accommodate others customers from an undeparted flight from the night before?...attempting to change my flight due to this?...seriously need to do better Air Canada...and to top it all off you are served by a snotty unprofessional group of stewards?....a huge JOKE!....won't be flying this airline again and I will be spreading the word!"

Miinukset: "My partner had injured his knee and it was quite swollen. When we phoned and also went to an AC agent at the airport, we were told there was nothing they could really do as far as leg room; Heathrow reps were kind enough to offer a wheelchair when we arrived. The frustrating part was when we were on the flight, there were multiple rows which only had 1 person seated. There did not seem to be any empathy, understanding or patience for our situation and it did not feel great to be treated with annoyance and disdain."
Plussat: "Toronto->Shanghai Good In general it was a good flight considering how long (14 hours) it was. The new entertainment system has a lot of features and movies. It also has chat to other passengers which is useful when travelling with a group sitting in different areas."
Miinukset: "Bad Long flight but that is the way it is. The fight map froze on my entertainment system about 1/2 through the flight so the map was useless after that. One side of my earphones also went dead. My wife wanted something better then hot noodles in a cup for the middle meal."

'No time' to load bags is kind of an odd and slightly unacceptable reason to not load baggage onto a plane. Airlines close check-in for flights 30 mins before departure time to ensure that all bags make it onto the plane. I was 3 hours early. Don't know why they 'didn't have time'. They also broke my friend's bag."

Miinukset: "I had booked the free hotel for when you have more than 8 hours on the layover. I got to the airport to find that because I didn’t have a US passport, I couldn’t take advantage of the hotel, although my wife who is American, could have chosen to. So we stayed for 9 hours in the airport, and then boarded another 10 hour flight to NZ. It would have been useful to know the limitations, and maybe even get some kind of voucher for food or a lounge from the airline since they could have told me about the passport restrictions."

Plussat: "First, crew and service were wonderful. Business class food was very good. BUT on the SF/Guangzhou route, both ways, business class seat 14K did not work! These are 14 and 12 hour overnight flights and seat wouldn't even recline, forget laying flat! On the outbound flight I didn't realize until we took off. The crew tried to fix it and couldn't but gave me one of the crew seats in the back of business class. Not great to be separated from my husband for most of the flight, but I could sleep and was otherwise comfortable. Returning Guangzhou to SF, had the same seat. Checked it as soon as I boarded and it didn't work, again! This time they got ground crew to fix it before take off. It worked most of the flight, but once I put it up after laying flat for 8 hours, it stopped working. Would not move from a straight upright position. Ridiculous! SO check to make sure your seats work before you take off!!"

Miinukset: "The white wine served on the CZ600 flight between New York and Guangzhou was not chilled. The flight crews should be trained that white wine needs to be served chilled. The Delta Club at JFK closed before midnight. However the outbound flight from JFK did not leave until 1:40 am. There should be notice where the business class customers should go to get lounge services."
Miinukset: "Could not reserve a seat ahead of time and the website was impossible. But once on the flight, all was good. But I agree with others that the seats are very hard. This was business class and a 15 hour flight."
Plussat: "My first flight got delayed and they did delay my connecting flight, but I was rushed to catch the plane."
Miinukset: "Because of the delayed flight and getting a new boarding pass, my seat that I chose when I checked in was not available, but I guess that's to be expected. Leg space was completely non existent and it was very uncomfortable to sit when the person in front of you reclines all the way back. The food options were small and they ran out of most food items by the time they got to the back."

Food is fantastic, lounge is very good, good food and drinks. Their price is quite reasonable, makes this trip worth every cent of it! Love it and I will travel with them in future."

What exactly are the qualifications for being a member of the SkyTeam? On-board entertainment? I just want TIMELY, safe and comfortable flights. Frills are nice, but not necessary, and do NOT make up for not consistently delivering these priorities. Not allowing the use of cell phones in airplane mode on-board was mildly inconvenient also. Having more than one bathroom on the planes would also be appreciated."
