Plussat: "The seats in Economy are larger than normal airlines and had extra leg room. My partner is 6ft2in and he sat comfortable, even when the people in front reclined. The staff was so polite and helpful. I will definitely fly JAL again!"

Miinukset: "Space under the seat in front of me was very cramped - a large box for electronics got in the way and made it difficult to get into a comfortable position, which is tough for an 11-hour flight.. The plane was completely full, and my husband and I had to sit in separate rows - I was never able to switch the seats, even though I called several times and tried at the airport as well. Entertainment selection not as good as the American flight out. The JAL website (English version at least) is not very easy to use."

The flight was great. As far as the food is concerned it would be great to get little things like salt, pepper a small cube of butter (when bread is provided) with the meal.

Plussat: "I liked that the flight was not full and I was able to use the entire row of seats and lie down as straight as possible to get some sleep. The crew was very friendly and allowed us to sleep most of the flight --- I guess they figured that most of the travelers prefer to just sleep and not be disturbed during a 15-hour flight. There was a good selection of movies and shows to watch to pass the time. I liked that there was time to go on the city tour of Doha and that there is a counter at the airport for the city tour."
Miinukset: "My flight started in Kathmandu and the layover for the connecting flight from Doha to LAX was 12 hours. I hope Qatar can come up with a schedule that will reduce the layover down to less hours while still giving passengers time to go on the city tour, if they want to."

Plussat: "This review is for return travel from ATL to MAA (Chennai, India) and back. Route: ATL-DOH: about 14.5 hrs; DOH-MAA: about 4.5 hrs; Likes: 1. Baggage check-in process was simple and easy. 2. Meal preferences was good - I'm a vegetarian and on the onward journey forgot to specify the meal preference but the crew had enough inventory to meat the requirements. 3. Every seat was provided with a small plastic pouch/packet/goodie bag that consisted of a eye mask (very thoughtful), pair of sock, toothpaste+brush (very thoughtful), hand cream. This was very useful and effective. 4. Entertainment - options were good and current."
Miinukset: "Dislikes: 1. Online check-in wasnt easy; towards the end of the process, there is an option to email the boarding pass but this never worked. Not sure if this is something to do with the browser (tried with Firefox, Opera) 2. It would have been good, as part of the online check-in, if the users reminded to specify the meal preferences, etc. I forgot to specify the meal preferences but thankfully the crew had enough of what I wanted. 3. Take a relook at the packaging of the toothpaste tube in the goodie bag. It was sealed in such a way that it was difficult to open it w/o a sharp object. This should have been easier. 4. Seats were the worst part - poor legroom. Worst, the seat cushion is the worst. I think it was just a fabric over a metal seat with minimalist of cushion. ATL to DOH leg was the worst (and the longest leg of the trip). Unless you have open seats next to you it would be a back breaking and painful trip. Seat comfort wise, I would rate Qatar as the worst. Luckily on the return leg (DOH-ATL) next two seats to mine was empty, so was able to stretch and sleep well. DOH-MAA or MAA-DOH seating was little better (think its a older plane; newer planes have worst seats) 5. The website was damn slow while accessing from overseas. Even in the US, at times the website hangs-up, freezes or spins often. 6. Food was ok -dinner and lunch but minimalistic; I didnt see any specific breakfast menu or any coffee served separately (was part of beverage option during lunch or dinner) 7. There was no alert, communication, notification, reminder of upcoming trip via email or text, etc. Many airlines does this very often but Qatar was totally silent on it (they did have my email during checkin). Not sure why."

Miinukset: "Crew only helpful when pushed to help. My child was sick and the cabin crew tried to give me food. I said that my child had just vomited but there was no offer to help me clear it up they just continued serving food to other passengers. I had to search for someone to help me to clear up and then I felt as though I was an inconvenience. I then had to look for someone to bring food for myself and other child. My other child is 1yr and 11 months and I was told they were only allowed baby food not a child meal. Although there were a few spare seats on the plane I was squashed into a full row with a 3 yr old and one year old on my lap. I appreciate that there may not have been any bassinet seats left but would have been helpful not to be on a full row as a single adult travelling with two small children. No offers for assistance with bags."

Miinukset: "-my seat did not recline, which I understand that I was close to the emergency exit but the person in front of me could still put their seat back way farther than they should be able to and I was unable to do simple things like put my glass of water on my tray -I had a vegetarian meal which was literally just rice and ground up brown mush-I have no idea what that much was -I asked twice for new headphones because my was broken but they forgot -When the flight attendant was coming around with water and she looked me to see if I wanted any and I said yes, she just skipped over me. I didn't pay a few hundred dollars extra for this."

Plussat: "I travel from Sydney to Europe (UK and Greece) regularly. My experience with Qatar airways was fantastic: I highly recommend it. First of all, the travelling hours are a bit shorter (compared to travelling via Singapore or Hong Kong) probably because of the geography of the cities/connections and the corresponding flight times between Athens-Doha-Sydney. The aircraft was exceptional (I believe it was Airbus A380). It was a double-deck, wide-body and four-engine jet airliner. Cabin and economy class seats were very comfortable and more spacious compared to other aircraft. There was minimal turbulence, which is partially due to the type of aircraft: at least this is my understanding. The aircraft also had wi-fi (complimentary for the first 15 min) and one was allowed to use the mobile phone during the flight (except during take off and landing times). The flight attendants were absolutely amazing. Also, the crew was very understanding and friendly with children. Food was also excellent and in good portions. Overall there was high tech aircraft, excellent service and no delays. I will choose it again in the future."
Miinukset: "On the downside, I had a problem with my entertainment device during the whole flight: there was no sound, so I was not really able to watch any movies/TV.. The flight attendants tried to sort it out, but it was not possible. They kindly brought complimentary magazines and drinks/snacks, however it would have been much preferable if I could watch a movie or if free wi-fi was offered for the whole flight, as compensation.. My understanding is that this was not an option, due to problems providing free password..."

People should be boarded by zoning instead of letting people acted like this is the last flight out of Saigon!!"

Then wait for the previous minibus's crowd to clear then walk another flight of stairs up the plane :( I can accept this from a budget airline but not a commercial airline at a usual well-equipped airport especially when it's at its own home country."

Staff saw earlier on and did nothing, even stood there and spoke about it for a bit but left it."

Flying business expected some service but had nothing and they smiled and said they rebooked me 16 days later. Other airlines would book you on different carriers but not PAL. The seat was reasonably comfortable, and reclines back a decent way. For how huge the plane was, the boarding process was super fast and efficient!"
Miinukset: "Seats were still rather cramped for my poor husband, who is 6'3. It is very hard to get out of your seat if you're in a window and all the seats on front are fully reclined, and I am relatively spry! Can't imagine an elderly or debilitated person trying to do so! The in flight movies were great, but you had to use the headphones they provide, and none of the 3 pairs I tried worked well. All had constant static. Although the seats recline far, they also do it abruptly and are hard to get to come back up. The dinner (we had the beef) was not very good. The quality of the ground beef was what you would expect from a fast food place. The worst part of the flight was that the sat ALL the infants in the same area on the plane, and all right around us. 5 of them, to be exact. 17 hours of on and off screaming babies! My husband had to move to a different seat to get some sleep! Thankfully, I can sleep through anything. Overall, less terrible than I expected a 17 hour flight to be, but could have been better. Some crew were very nice and helpful and others not so much. The first woman my husband asked told him (rather abruptly) that he wouldn't be able to use his CPAP machine. Then a really nice guy helped him get it set up. The turbulence was a bit scary for me, and the way the captain would announce it didn't help! He'd just say "all passengers and crew be seated and fasted your seat belts" in a rather grim tone as the plane shook violently."

Miinukset: "Gluten-free food in particular needn't be milk/lactose or meat free, and needn't be based around those gluten-free breads (Qantas GF bread was better than some others but still not great). There are good gluten free noodles, and most of the NORMAL meals would be find as long as gratuitous adding of wheat products to sauces was avoided (there is no excuse for soysauce or cornflour containing gluten - wheat and flour are additives that should not be present in ANY product that isn't specifically a wheat product). If the Asian meals, curry and rice, etc. were made with care they would be GF and many (Australian) restaurants offer GF variants of their meals. Still don't understand why they didn't give me real butter or real milk... Should have announced explicitly that we needed to pick up and clear and recheck baggage (on same tag) before our domestic flight."
Plussat: "Food off the menu was excellent. Tummy wasn't feeling well so I liked having carb-free options. The Asian salad for dinner and fruit platter for brekkie went down well."
Miinukset: "Have always booked tickets and flown with my partner. Set alarm to check-in online exactly 24hrs prior to departure as usual and found my partner and I seated in different seats with no available seats to switch. How can this be on an aircraft this big? Thought we might be able to fix it at the counter next day, we headed to the airport early by 3hrs to sort it out. Maybe it was the end of a long day, our flight was close to midnight... Check-in lady was lovely and all smiles but it went downhill from here... No option to sit together and no offer of an upgrade at the counter or at boarding (we didn't ask). Duty-free collection instructions weren't clear prior to boarding ("board as you will and pick up after") and during boarding the staff member seemed over it ("pick up after boarding"). Wouldn't it be easier to advise over the PA so we don't have to ask or if we have to ask explain something along the lines of "you can collect your duty free from the cart after you scan you ticket, prior to boarding the aircraft". The worst part of our experience was the aircraft itself. The plane was obviously very old and tired. My partner's seat kept reclining and wouldn't stay upright (we didn't complain). Rows were so close together that you could smell the person in front's hair when they reclined their chair fully (which they did for the entirety of the flight) and your eyes feel cross-eyed it was so close. The entertainment system was old - we couldn't choose when to watch our movies and as movies aren't the same duration we missed out on a lot of the movies we did want to watch. Finally the selection of movies could've made up for this downfall but it was incredibly limited in selection for a long haul flight. Not sure if it was us but the flight crew also seemed tired and over it too. Luckily we had sleeping pills so we slept through much of the flight but what we did experience wasn't good at all. V disappointed."

Miinukset: "Terminal at LAX only allowed use of Admiral Club not Qantas lounge LAX international. 5 hr layover. No food. Poor facilities. 2 drink voucher. Not up to Qantas standard by a long shot. More importantly seats economy on American Airlines flight fro LAX to SYD very narrow and incredibly uncomfortable. Unable to rest comfortably to any degree or be able to have a meal when seat in front reclined and i am not a big guy. I fly often for work and also pay for Qantas club but this experience is making me think very differently about booking flights according to what the codeshare airline is. Dissapointed and not what I expect the standard of a Qantas codeshare airline to be."

Plussat: "I had an aisle seat that was the emergency exit row so I had excellent leg room. It felt that flight attendant was apologizing personally that they ran out of pasta before they got to my row and wanted to know if beef was okay to eat. Even for the short distance, the entree was more than what I expected on a short flight and in coach. Again the customer service was amazing."

Four point checks and manual screening."

Airlines that are notorious for late departures will cause your bags to be routed wrong, or not at all. poor job all around on customer service."

Miinukset: "We were forced to go through numerous security checks. The last check was at the gate and our carry-ons were searched yet again and our laptops, cameras and iPads were taken. Apparently we cannot bring these items on the plane and no one told us, the customers who paid to board this flight. Plus the wifi was not free. And when we tried to use the wifi code we were given from the crew as a "perk" from our camera Ana iPads being taken, that still did not work. So that was a 13 hr flight with no wifi. Plus on my flight from Istanbul to Atlanta my Tv did not work and the crew didn't speak English and could not understand my complaint. Overall the worst flight ever, close to a Delta flight which everyone knows is the bottom of the barrel of airlines. When we finally arrived in Atlanta it took 3 HOURS to get our baggage. We landed at 7:45 PM and did not get our bags until 11 pm. We were not told what the delay was and to just be patient. I will a NEVER take this airline agin."

Seats cramped and too close together. Crew didn't manage passengers putting luggage away so passengers did it very badly taking up overhead room with jackets and small bags. Gate was overcrowded and hot without enough seats. Staff was pleasant though and friendly and courteous and efficient."
