We left the departure gate 30 minutes later than scheduled, after arriving at 0445 am. then we loaded a bus full of people packed together, the bus went 50 meters and stopped. We then sat there, with no air conditioning, no information, for 45 additional minutes. It was extremely uncomfortable. Finally drove another 50 meters to the airplane, and waited some more before finally boarding. Once on board there was another delay of some 20 minutes before we could taxi. All of this meant we arrived quite late in Istanbul and missed all connections."

They did not try at all to find an alternative route for us. The lack of empathy and understanding was astounding. NEVER TURKISH AIRLINES AGAIN!"

Miinukset: "The service on Turkish airlines was not friendly or helpful. The food was not quality, or food tasting. The entertainment didn't include a lot of movies at all. One of the flights did even give headphones. The staff wasn't rude and not helpful, and didn't make the flight comfortable. I had high hopes flying with Turkish Airlines for the first time, but I was thoroughly disappointed with everything."

Very cordial flight crew. The little travel kits were an added bonus. Having sandals on a 13 hour flight was a blessing instead of putting on shoes every time you have to to to the WC."

Miinukset: "According to the menu we were supposed to have a choice of chicken or eggplants. When it was my turn - it turned out that there was no chicken left. Fine. Eggplants with some kind of lasagna. This lasagna was just old! Old and dry. And cold. It was definitely not fresh. I asked to warm it up. Got another one. Which was not better actually. That was really annoying. Only after one more complaint I was offered some kosher (and now really good) meal instead."

Miinukset: "Turkish airline randomly changed my seat assignments without any explanation to me. I also found out my connect flight was changed to much later and one causing me an eight hour delay and assemble airport. Again this was done without my knowledge I happen to randomly find out at the check-in station in Los Angeles. The manager was kind enough to switch me back to my old flight and seat assignments but it took an hour waiting. As a result of the irresponsible delay at the airport and the pilot not bothering to make up the time when we arrive to sample I realized we had missed her flight despite the promises that they will wait it was the most horrible experience. Rest of the passengers and I were waiting at the connecting gate with the gate number the flight number and the sign saying now boarding but there was no plane no one could give us an explanation of what happened. I will never fly Turkish again"

We had a 19 hour lay-over, pleasantly spent in a new, very comfortable hotel to which we were shuttled and from which we were returned to the airport the next morning -- hotel/shuttle comped, as was the impressive breakfast at the hotel. We will definitely fly TurkishAir again. The staff was excellent and the in-flight entertainment system was wonderful."

The person in front of me fully reclined their seat and it had no impact on my comfort. I am 6 feet tall and this was great."
Miinukset: "we never ended up taking the flight. delays in istanbul had everything backed up. the customer service was entirely ineffective...no lines, no plan, no information. after waiting forever with zero assistance, we bypassed the airline completely and booked a new flight in order to make sure we were able to return to work on time."
Miinukset: "My original flight was postponed from 0905 hours ... to 1200 hours and then 1400 hours. At @ 1300 it was cancelled due to "weather"! We were offered a flight the NEXT day or go to Skopje for a night flight or the next day (maybe fog again). NO OFFER OF TRANSPORTATION TO SKOPJE. I paid 30 Euros for a ride to Skopje. I took the night flight from Skopje to Istanbul. BUT I HAD ALREADY MISSED MY CONNECTING FLIGHT TO BISHKEK. The TA agent in Skopje, said to fly to Istanbul, rebook w/ TA to Bishkek and I would receive free accommodation for the night. That didn't happen and I filed a claim / complaint w/ TA. No $$$ has been reimbursed."

For transatlantic flights the seats should be bigger."

Lufthansa should have anticipated this mass of people and had appropriate passport checkers there from that company. "Not our fault" does not cut it. Two planes 600 people each landed at same time. I'd guess a quarter missed connection. The process of rescheduling was a comedy of lies and inefficiency and lack of concern. Worst air travel experience ever. Ruined first two days of my vacation. Oh yea forgot the worst. No air conditioner running on runway at Houston at three in afternoon. Passengers visibly sweating before a nine out overseas flight. Blamed it on a mistake."

Miinukset: "Planes are old and cramped. Our plane gave us the "personal entertainment option" which meant you had to use your own device since they are too cheap to upgrade the planes. However, this international flight only had american plugs so anyone without an adapter was SOL. I tried to watch the large screen at the front of my section but they showed the movie Lion that is in Hindi and therefore had subtitles and I couldn't read the words from 12 rows back. The boarded process is like a cattle call. DO NOT FLY UNITED!!! I thought I was flying Lufthansa but it was a bait and switch situation."

In particular, Qantas is much much closer to business class than to economy class in it's premium economy product. Lufthansa is just not delivering value to this segment."

Miinukset: "I did not enjoy the turbulence, which I suppose is unavoidable. More importantly, I felt quite guilty about the greenhouse gas emissions of my flight. I have decided to cut down on my air travel as much as possible as a way of reducing my carbon footprint."

Because of an allergic reaction, I asked for ice a number of times and the attendants were more than happy to meet my needs."

I spent two 4-hour layovers there on this trip and walk away with a higher sympathy for Ed Snowden, poor guy."

Miinukset: "However, the ticketing and boarding personel at JFK are no longer the former polite and efficient Russian-speaking staff, and I wonder if this is a forced change due to JFK union rules? They are now native New Yorkers of various ethnic groups, like random JFK personnel, but not one of them ticketing us in the late evening spoke Russian! I saw several Russians struggling to try to get them to understand ticketing problems, and one older woman burst into tears, thinking they were telling her she couldn't get on the plane. The woman at the desk just coldly held up her hands in an X, gesturing her to get away. Please go back to the native Russian-language speakers. I didn't know if these were really Aeroflot employees, so didn't give a low rating as the flight itself was great. Also, when they lined us up to get on the plane it was four lines, with no instruction and no signs, even in English as to what the lines were for-- we were simply lined up like cattle, and after shoving me from one line to the next, with no explanation, even in English, finally herded us on the plane. It was a dehumanizing experience."

Miinukset: "My flight home was not as comfortable as was my flight to Russia. The seat felt well used but I made the best of it with short walks. I know this is not Aeroflot's fault but my seat mate was very large. Although he was a nice person he had an unpleasant odor. I would have liked to change my seat but the it was a full flight. Maybe next time I will try an upgrade on my flight."

I asked the main crew member from my aisle for a seat change but he came back 10 mins later saying there was nothing else available. Later when I was walking around to stretch my legs, I saw there were AT LEAST 10 seats open in the next cabin. Why lie? The entertainment system touch-screen was not working properly and the headphones kept falling out of my ear."

Miinukset: "The food was filling, but not particularly tasty. For those seated toward the back, there was no choice. Although maybe there was no choice to begin with. Normally, on international flights, for the first (bigger) meal at least, you are given two choices, such as meat or vegetarian, beef or chicken. The food itself wasn't great. The salad was below average on both flight, from and to Chicago. So was the desert. Drinks are offered once with each meal in very small glasses. Although there is a bottle of water from the start."

Miinukset: "The flight from Helsinki arrived 2 hours late to JFK due to mechanical reasons causing some passengers miss their connectiing flights, which is quite normal in airline practice. What was not normal and supper aggravating was the fact that nobody met us at the gate to help us rebook our missed flights. We had to find an AA agent in the departure area and stand in line with other passengers who were checking in to their flight to Jordan. There was no customer service what so ever provided by Finnair."

It took at least 30 minutes to get off the plane and then getting through customs was a nightmare. Arrival board at O'Hare said plane was on time, but listed gate as 0, which of course doesn't exist so our ride home had no idea what was going on or what was taking so long and ended up waiting over three hours for us to get through everything to meet them."

Attendants on this flight were very busy and very friendly. Check-in was run very efficiently. My check-through luggage arrived intact. Overall a good experience on a two-hour journey. Plane arrived about 10 minutes ahead of schedule, which is always a plus."

It also took a very long time to get a hotel assignment because I was stuck in Chicago overnight. The finnair air agents at ohare were not very understanding or helpful. We waited in the line for a long time for someone to come and help us. overall they were not very apologetic regarding the fact that I was stuck there overnight. It took soooo long to get to the hotel. I arrived there well after midnight. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY FLIGHTS ARE BOOKED SO CLOSE TOGETHER. NO LAYOVER TIME IN BETWEEN MEANS MISSED CONNECTIONS! THIS HAPPENED BOTH WAYS ON MY TRIP. VERY ANNOYING"

Avoid Helsinki airport like the plague for stopovers: bad signage, woeful information how to get to the city efficiently in English. HORRIBLE experience when trying to get lost property: you got to PAY for your initial email or pay top dollar just for a stupid and aggravating phone call!!! The number of exclamation marks is not exaggerated here. You can't even ask if they even have the item in their possession. Rarely had such a bad experience at an airport, and I travel a lot for work. This alone makes me think thrice about EVER getting Finnair again. Same company that manages the airport, so I'm giving this flight a bad review."
