The hotel is historic, but apart from the lobby, which is impressive, the historic details are not well preserved, so overall it feels less like a grand old hotel and more like just an old and run-down hotel. The room was small; carpet was worn out; drapes hideous; no fan in the bathroom; a tray of junk food was set out on display front of the bed, which could not be moved without incurring a charge, so it was like we were sleeping in a convenience store.

Incredibly beautiful hotel. The lobby is a masterpiece. I felt like I was transported in time...with modern amenities close by. Wish there was a refrig in the room but other than that, this trip was perfect. I plan to visit The Palmer many more times.
The check in was smooth and easy. Our attendant answered all of our questions and made great suggestions for food and activities. I will say, i had the BEST caramel macchiato at the Starbucks that is in this hotel. I told the barista then, and i'm saying it again now, it was hands down the best! The bed seemed really firm which is unusual for hotels, usually they are plush.
Walk into the grand lobby and you feel like you're part of Chicago history. The rooms are a little small.
We arrived early and tried to check in.Were advised room not ready, but in a hour and we were being upgraded. Two hours later that room was gone, but we could wait for the upgraded room or take our confirmed room (smaller,etc) then.Decided to wait on 23rd floor where the upgraded room was located--very pleasant but took another 40 minutes. It was god to wait and worth it but,.........................., had two double beds. would have liked queen beds as we were three ladies, two of whom are larger.... Everything else was GREAT
The room was very clean. The hotel had many amenities and provided a comfortable home away from home. I was approached by beggars both in front of the hotel (on the sidewalk) and in the hotel lobby. It would have been nice for security to be a bit tighter.
In the middle of everywhere I needed to be! Near read line, near great restaurants and near the bean. Bed was a bit too uncomfortable and no water pressure in shower.
The main lobby and bar were beautiful and relaxing areas and the hotel is well maintained and clean. Rooms and bathroom were very small and the building is definitely an older building. That being said, the interiors were clean and well taken care of, and the common areas were very well kept and beautiful.

Location was great. Staff was nice. Workout facility adequate. The BIG bar and the common spaces were really neat. no convienent way to have towels replaced. You had to call housekeeping. Also the sink was small, no place to leave personal items on sink. Couldn't use the refrigerator because it was rigged to charge you for minibar items.

My friend and I got there on a Thursday night. We asked the manager if we could get an upgrade since I was a gold member and the hotel was more than half empty. She denied us that courtesy. I would understand if the hotel was full but it was totally empty probably due to the bad weather so I will not stay here again

From check in to check out, our stay at the Hyatt Regency was a superb experience. The staff was genuinely hospitable, and the entire facility was luxurious. The premium view is worth the extra $$$, as we had a breathtaking view of the river and lakefront. Definitely recommend. It was pricey, but definitely worth it. I really can't say anything else that was undesirable, as our stay was basically perfect.

Check in was busy but efficient Because it was our 10th wedding anniversary I called to have a bottle of proseco waiting for us in the room. I was told they didn't have proseco but it was listed in the menu. The walls are paper thin. So much so not only could I hear the guy next door but I could also hear the person he was talking to on the phone. came downstairs to get my car from the valet and was told it would take 20 minutes. No one said anything when I checked in and there were no instructions that allowed you to call ahead from your room. Bathroom floor was sticky. Overall, the worse hotel visit.

Even though the hotel offers nice spacious rooms with an incredibly friendly staff the noise left us with less than desirable evenings. The noise from people in the hallway travelled down the entire hallway echoing, causing the ability to sleep quite difficult. Conversely early in the morning when people were beginning to check out you heard the elevator almost every time... and we were at least 4-5 rooms away from the elevator. Additionally there was hotel room service plates left in the hallway for 1 1/2 days with dirty food on it. I'm a patient person but that's unacceptable for even more than half a day

Came early bc we were miserable at another hotel so we showed up at 1030AM Ann's they kindly let us check in for our four nights at that time so we could relax get and shower and unpack before hitting the city. Phenomenal location to all and I mean all things. The whole staff is friendly and helpful. Great city and river views. Would most certainly recommended to anyone visiting the city.

Our room had an excellent view, guest services was extremely helpful any time we needed anything, even with the most minor of things. The hotel is within walking distance of the magnificent mile, Millenium park, Shedd aquarium, and the Field museum. The Lincoln Park zoo is only 5 miles away, so this hotel is in the perfect location. We really enjoyed the view that we had from our room, being on the upper floors lets you look over all of Chicago. The only complaint I would have wold be the cleaning of the room. We found a bottle cap just sitting on the floor near one of the chairs, and I know it wasn't ours because we are not of age to drink. The other problem was the bathroom floor. When I stepped out of the shower I stepped on the tile and there was some sticky substance all over the floor by the sink.
We arrived early on our flight and the staff had no problem checking us in way before the regular time. Very accommodating and incredibly friendly staff. Facility was clean and well maintained. We plan on staying again next time we are in Chicago
The price was the cheapest we could find Everything was wrong the do not disturb sign got taken off somehow and we were still in the room when they tried to clean it and the beds were too soft and caved in. The pool wasn't fun or relaxing at all and there was no hot tub. It was our honeymoon and they didn't even say congrats when we told Them that at check in. The ice machine was broken and when we asked for an extra sheet we had to call three times and it took an hour to get one. Also there needs to be a continental breakfast or at least some fruit we can grab instead of waiting in a stupid long line just to buy an apple or water. We hated it there.

Good hotel from a dependable chain, with convenient deli and ATM inside, direct access to the convention center next door, generally helpful staff. My room was not stylish but it was spotless, comfortable and larger than I expected. Location was fine, easy to get a taxi. I did not try the restaurants or deal with parking. The hot water in my room was not dependable. The lobby of the hotel had an overpowering strong cologne smell - it was like they were going for a 'signature scent' of 'too much Axe.'
Jeff helped us check in and he definetly set the tone. He was very welcoming, suggested some places to see in Chicago, and upgraded our room for our anniversary. Loved the Luxurious Amenities this hotel offers. Our room was comfortable, cold, and dark. All we needed was a fan to soothe me to sleep and upon calling the front desk, they delivered a fan to our room. Only negative I have is that our room had poor lighting. I'm a makeup artist so lighting is key for anyone to put on makeup, let alone a professional makeup artist like myself. Upgrade the lighting please!!
The location is good: close to subway, next to park, easy to get food to eat. I thought this is a 4-star hotel. When I saw the entrance of this hotel, it looks like 4-star. But when I got into the room, I thought I was in a 2-star Inn. The coffee maker is dirty, full of dust. The computer is not working and not able to off screen. The decoration of the room doesn't look like 4-star. Also, when the guest at next room used the bathroom, the loud "boom" sound would shock you. The WiFi is only free at lobby. The speed is really slow. When I refused to pay $30 for upgrade room with WiFi, the staff looked not happy. My teen girl was very disappointed for her trip to Chicago. She always wants to stay in hotel but this time she didn't want to stay longer.

A Very Walkable City with wonderful waterfront area and Great Food at Lou Malnati's and Gene & Georgetti. Museums, Aquarium, Planetarium, Soldier Field, Jazz Clubs and Great Restaurants...Everything is centrally located in and around Grant Park which is right across the street from the HILTON CHICAGO. The bed pillows were AWFUL! mushy and no support. A minor point, that would NOT prevent me from staying there again. My biggest CON was the cost of parking $56/day (self park) or $70/day (valet), for the cost of the room it should be included. Also in-room WiFi is an additional charge, should also be included.

My hotel was right acros from the park..a short walk from the museum and aquarium, as well as a ferry to the pier! The room was clean and large, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby was beautiful! Hotel also has a large pool..was over all very impressed, would stay again on a return visit! That I had to leave!
Our room was beautiful with a spectacular city view. Complete functioning kitchette which we did not take advantage of because we were only there one night but would have been great for a three day weekend stay. Staff was friendly and professional. We had a light fixture broken in our bathroom when we first arrived and they had it replaced and room service had cleaned the glass up in under 20 mins. Impressive for an operation this size. Within walking distance to many desired locations.
Service staff never made me feel like I was a bother. I loved the spacious and newly remodeled room we stayed in. Beautiful bump out bay window with breathtaking views of the river and Lake Michigan. Bathroom had very high end finishes, and also included a television in the mirror! The maintenance guy who tried to fix a broken bathroom light was using very profane language as he failed at repairing the light. However, this staff member's behavior scored us a free upgrade from city view - to river lake view - so it all worked out.

The staff was extremely helpful with everything from directions to meal preferences. The quality of atmosphere was also very good. The decor and views from the hotel were better than anywhere I've ever stayed. The pool area was not on par with the essence or ambiance of the rest of the hotel, with the lack of hot tub areas and the extreme plainness of the pool area compared to the rest of the hotel.

I liked the central location of the hotel. I think the charge for internet-acces is ridiculous, the room-service sometimes took very long (1,5 hour) and they tried to charge me more than what I had originally booked for.
The location was perfect! We were able to shop, enjoy the nightlife, and take in the Chicago Marathon. Everything was close by. The price was pretty high, but we stayed over Columbus Day/Chicago Marathon weekend so I guess that rooms were at a premium.

It was a great location and the staff was very friendly. I spent a lot of time looking for a room that would comfortably fit 3 adults. I was traveling with my 19 year old daughter and my 67 year old mother. I specifically booked and paid for a "triple room". When we got to the room there were 2 small double beds. Not at all what I expected for 3 adults or for $400 per night. Be very aware of what you are actually getting for your money. This was not at all comfortable for 3 regular sized adults. I will say everything else was fine but I felt very ripped off for what we paid vs. what we got. I could have booked a regular room anywhere for much less.

Location! Comfortable rooms. Rooftop bar is a nice place to hang out (aside from pricey drinks). Small elevator. The bathroom layout was weird, the shower stall was only half covered by glass, and the other half completely open. This combined with the shower head placement meant that the bathroom was completely soaked after anyone showered.
Great location just off the Magnificent Mile easy to get to just with everything you might need to downtown. When was nice but needed a few small maintenance items repaired other than that it was a great place to stay.

Great location with a nice hotel design. The drum bar and the bakery were nice perks. Its an older building and that is very obvious. The AC is questionable, the elevators are small and take quite a while, and if you want normal pillows you need to request them.
This is a Kayak review- not a hotel review. I booked my travel a week in advance and with 2 days notice I received a call that I no longer had a reservation and there was nothing that could be done. It left me scrambling to find a room and I had to pay 40% more than expected because I never really had a reservation. Will never use Kayak again.

The location was decent if you're willing to walk about a mile to anything you'd like to see. Staff was excellent, they shipped me something that I left in the room immediately. Very clean, they even put a birthday surprise for my husband in room upon arrival. When you enter the main lobby there is no rest room, you have to take elevator to the 2nd floor. After traveling so long one needs to use the facility fast. Also parking fees a bit high per day, the hotel I stay at offers free parking to its guests
Swanky and chic hotel located in the heart of Chicago only steps away from shopping, great restaurants and all that the city has to offer. It's upscale, hip and a great value -- with a very comfortable bed to boot! What more could you want?

My husband and I loved this hotel. We have stayed in several hotels on or near Michigan Ave and this was the best. The hotel is beautiful and is in the perfect location for us. A short walk to the subway, excellent restaurants along Rush Street and of course fabulous shopping. I will definitely stay here again even though it's a little more than I usually like to pay.
Situated in a good area very convinient for shopping and buisness. I was not allowed a late check out as my flight was late evening.

The rooms were nice, but our room had not been properly cleaned. There was an empty wine bottle in the trash, a stain on the carpet, and dirt on the bedspread. The location is great for exploring the city. A block from Michigan Ave, the beach, and Rush street. The customer service was not good. We waited 30-45 minutes for our bags to be brought up to our room and finally had to go down to get them. There were two bellmen standing in the lobby doing nothing and our luggage was just sitting there. As mentioned the room was not properly cleaned which is never a good feeling when you are staying in a hotel. I requested a late check-out and was immediately told "No due to someone else staying in our room and they needed to clean it". He then asked what room we were staying in. He again said it wasn't possible as someone was staying in that room and they would need to clean it. When we checked out I forgot a brand new shirt I bought while staying there. I rarely hang things in the closet and had done so since it was a new shirt. I realized this the next day and called and again was given horrible customer service. They told me it was not in the room and that nobody stayed in that room the night before so they couldn't help me. Obviously, the maid who cleaned that room took it, but they accepted no responsibility for that. Not to mention they couldn't give us a late check-out due to another guest needing the room. It's a shame the customer service was so bad because it is a nice hotel in a great area of the city.
The location. My wife and I went to see the Phantom of the Opera playing next door at the Cadillac Palace. I can't say enough about the convenience of having the hotel next door. no having to walk blocks to our vehicle. Walked down the sidewalk and into the hotel, was able to avoid the cold Chicago weather. The Room. We stayed in Room 405. Our view out of the 2 windows, the first was a brick wall, the second, an alley way. At about 2am, for some reason the windows decided they wanted to bang against the frame endlessly, not allowing neither my wife or I to sleep. The bed was definately not a King Bed, and for it being a Premier Room, I would have expected the bathroom to be bigger than the size of a closet. I can't say I wouldn't stay here again, but would want to see the room before check-in.

Located right in the Loop of Chicago, this hotel is only 2 blocks from the Blue Line train from the airport. Free WiFi if you are a Kimpton Rewards member (or if you sign up during your stay). Free wine social hour every night from 5-6pm. You also get a minibar credit if you are a rewards member before you check in. The front entrance was a little odd - the lobby is up on the floor above and not well marked. The view out the window in my room was a brick wall.
location (1) the fact we provided them a different credit card to charge my bill and they said they were good and then I get my statement and they charged the original card after they said it wouldn't be charged. (2) the lines to check out were long and it took us over 20 minutes to just check out. (3) we were not made aware of the wine hour when everyone else we spoke to was. Overall experience was not the best and the purpose of our visit was to find location venues for an upcominng tradeshow - I think if we would have made them aware we would have been treated much better.
Some may not like the smaller rooms (especially baths) but this is a very nice boutique hotel. They have done an excellent job of refurbishing a grand old building and the ambience captures the imagination. We loved it and would stay again for the good rate we got through booking.com No coffee machines and no coffee in lobby, but a coffee shop on the corner that was open at 5am.

I've stayed at several nice hotels in Chicago and this is by far my favorite. Very comfortable, tastefully decorated, incredible A-V/home automation controls. This was the perfect home-base for a multi-day business trip. The atrium also had a splendid Sunday brunch with string quartet. Couldn't be better
I would guess that most people who gave this place a positive review have never stayed at trump. For the same price trump offers a vastly better experience and much more comfort. The gym and spa at trump make this place look like a spa from rural Cambodia. Rooms were an ever so slightly better version of the Conrad. No pillow menu. No glacier water. No espresso machine in room. No microwave or stovetop with dishwasher( all present at trump). And no cake with gold leaf on it for my birthday!!!
Really enjoyed how friendly everyone was towards us especially since we were a young couple there and the staff told us good morning and everything each day and always had a smile on their face I can't really say I didn't like anything about the hotel or service. The only thing was it was a little expensive for us. Other than that everything was excellent

Fabulous service, fabulous food, fabulous room. I can't recommed this hotel highly enough!!
Beautiful hotel, very enjoyable. Neither Booking com nor the hotel warned us that a change in the reservation, leaving a night earlier, would result in an increase in the quoted daily rate. We were only told that cancellation was required 24 hours in advance without penalty.
Very good welcome and staff performance An elevator alarm went off in the middle of the night and it took over one hour to fix it - not conducive to comfortable sleep.
Hotel has great location, very nice accomodations. There was broken glass in the bar and I cut my finger pretty badly on our first night at the hotel. Although hotel staff was very nice and they did call security, I thought they could have done more in way of compensation. In hindsight, I probably needed stitches and other than call to my room by the manager (who had already left by the time we got back to the room), they really didn't even follow-up.

when I make check out from the hotel they told me i have to pay more than what booking website show me,after desscution they agree to refund 110 $ to me.

They had absolutely no trace of our reservation on arrival, but after some spirited discussion more than made good the upheaval.
The bed is gorgeusly confortable Many problems with shower, room cleaning, front desk attendece, etc.
Comfortable, elegant, convenient excellent accomodations. Food very good but somewhat overpriced. The hotel tower is very tall and our initial room on the 40th floor was very noisy in the wind and rain storm. The swaying was not noticable but the sound of creaking wall and ductwork was uncomfatably loud. The staff did move us to a lower floor to a large apartment suit which was very quiet.
Location! And they left a small treat for my child every afternoon.
